Since I moved to England I developed great taste for whisky and all sorts of ales. Recently our local supermarket started to sell local produce and from time to time they have beers from local small breweries.

I dont drink mainstream beer I have not tried pilsener or lager hmmm10 years. Close to mainstem are hefe weizen, dunkel weizen, bock, doppelbock , wiezen bock

Imperial stout, barley wine , DIPA or TIPA can be ca 14% dont mind, rest scotch ale, brown ale, IPA; Black IPA, some goose and so on I prefer ca 7 and up

I like strong beer (unless its not hot summer day) 8 to 16 % is good

I know, but mainstream people don't drink it,

And still I can have bottle of vodka/whisky with 6 beers and walk home without causing a scene

BE you just repeating stereotypes. There is plenty of much stronger beers here unfortunately. Traditionally yes English beers had lower alcohol content but those days you got plenty of cheap and strong beers available.
