What seems the most important albums for me in chronological order.
I wish I could carry the list year after year to see how my tastes changed and new findings.
I can help but notice that old albums immediately strike me, while in recent times most albums are good but nothing is groundbreaking. We have a tide of releases in the last decades, and standing above the other requires an impossible lot of talent.
Or is it my listen habbits that changed ? I felts I listened to the old albums albums for a lifetime while I'm only surface checking the new ones. Too little time, too little time to truly live...
Also the mixing technology, the sound is too flat nowadays and lack impact and personnality

This is a list of all the power metal albums I have listened to that are worth remembering. Like my other genre lists, this is not meant to be a definitive guide to power metal or a binding judgment on what power metal is or is not. The list exists purely for my own organizational purposes and may contain bands or albums that are not strictly True Knights of the Eternal Thundersword.

The first cluster includes my favorite albums in the genre (and a significant number of my all-time favorites); beyond that, they are listed by rating from 9/10 down to 6/10 and alphabetically within each bracket.

Hi people. I'd like to create a list of albums with the purpose of being as complete as possible. I'm looking for music that is technical or progressive, although I really don't like when things get out of hand, with crazy vocals in 4 different registers building tension and brutally stoping to yield it to a shredding solo in mixolydian helped by drums in 11/12 which try to imitate the synth syncopation in counterpoint, for ten seconds before jumping into something else.

Some time ago I made a list for heavy metal albums I enjoyed the most. I got it cleaned up after ripening my tastes.I also tried to organize the list a bit, in subcategories. There is one album per band (choices were hard sometimes), with no strict order, but my favorite albums are usualy on top.

I like heavy metal with atmoshpere, with melody, and ideally it should be some kind of gate to a fantastic universe. I don't care about modern HM with a shiny production and simplistic riffs. I don't care obscure occult band with horrendous prod and no musical ideas. Welcome to the sphere my friends. I'm talking about albums made by Guitar Heroes, with extreme creativity and skills. As you know, this is not the biggest musical genre because there are many amazing guitar players, but not that much amazing Guitar Heroes albums which deserves a true attention in their wholeness. For the little story of my life, I used to begin listening to metal with Yngwie, Joe and Steve Vai in 2005 or something like that. And when I bought my first electric guitar in 2005, I first started to try Vai's songs while you all know EVERY beginer starts playing with Nirvana or Red Hot Chili Peppers
Anyway, I hope you will enjoy my playlist. These albums are great to me, and it's always a pleasure to listen to them so many years after. I admit that GH albums are not my first preocupation today (if you take a look to my other lists, you will see), but this is the source of my passion, and each time I discover a good piece of them I bring it here, when I think about it.
