This year we have one best album plus a top 30 list in alphabetical order. We people of the Black Lodge are f***ing evil, but we're also quite sick, that's why our album of the year maybe is not metal anymore, but it's still the sickest album of the year. The Top 30 is full of that malicious, tortured music that made us even more malignant this year.

even though 2021's list isn't final yet (are they ever?) - I'm compelled any-damn-way to rank the 2022's I've been bamboozled with the most... most of it happens to be metal in some way or another - but, like my previous ones... non-metal albums that kick my ass (softly?) will surely be included, as well - hope it helps or is at least interesting to even one MS'er! 2021 was the first year when I actively listened to whatever new single or album I found out was coming from a band I like. In the past there had usually been a severe delay between the release and my attention being directed toward it. Because I listened to more music, I found more records which I came to love thoroughly, and it's about 10 or so of such records. The one that didn't make the list was Worship by Hypocrisy. I think overall I'm urged to say the year was pretty damn good.

DISLIKE 💔: Not very good or maybe not fitting my tastes.

I've decided to stop rating albums with a numerical value as I tend to feel uncomfortable with that system. This list has a minimalistic, subjective and visceral approach, based purely on sensations and personal tastes. I constantly revisit new releases so first impressions may change over time. It usually takes 3-4 spins for me to get completely sure of a rating.

Most significant records at the end of the first era of metal music.
The last year of the decade shows how some bands face the eighties with the menace of punk and disco music some bands take advantage of that like Kiss sounds more pop other like Motörhead goes harder, Judas Priest finish those years as a leaders of the Euro HM. Rush made their last epic record, Ronnie James Dio leave Rainbow, Black Sabbath made their last record with Ozzy and AC/DC lost Bon Scott. Saxon maybe starts in what became in the NWOBHM and lots of new bands emerged like Riot with their frenetic heavy metal, Van Halen made the first couple of self titled records with a new sound based on the virtuosity of Eddie Van Halen.
