Symphonic metal generally has to balance two things: not sounding like it's just a song with some strings slapped on top of it, and still being catchy.

This new album is good, but not that great. Poor mixing being the main letdown for me, especially the drums, which sound like a bunch of toys hitting each other.

Also I might be a minority here, but I don't understand the hypes for this band in general. Having circles of friends who are all totally overhyped about this band kinda tainted it for me unfortunately.

The thing that make them stand out from an otherwise quite underwhelming genre is the nicely integrated growling that is sprinkled throughout the album without ever taking over or feeling misplaced. Except for "Architect Of Creation" which definitely is the standout track here, being straight up symphonic black and the best song of the album.

Basically album what describe genre, dont stands out, but biggest downfall is length. 40 minutes, take ot weakest songs and there you go one more album.

Really strong release. Not as good in my book as the previous one tho, but still very well worked. Love's Souvenir is an astounding track.

Did anyone else think it was Wintersun at first before the vocals started? Started to think the wrong cd was in the case for a minute.

I've been struggling with this one tbh, it's not badly made by any means and I can't fault the performance, but nothing really stands out for me, I expected more memorable moments considering it's length.

I will dissent a bit for this one and say this album is amazing and that Adrienne’s phenomenal and emotive vocals absolutely make this album for me. She is so talented and versatile. The only thing I haven’t really heard from her is operatic vocals, which is just fine. Everything else, including the harsh vocals, she nails. Her contribution aside, I still very much love this album. The power metal guitars, the backing choir, the orchesta, the classic symphonic metal/poppy hooks and choruses, and the melancholic bits they throw in, it all works for me.
