Sharpen your sword it is time for some classic Heavy Metal. In Virgin Steele discography, Invictus remains my favorite release. Don't expect something brutal, those guys are the masters of refined Heavy Metal influenced by classical music.

Right from the get-go, the band leaves little doubt as to what the album is all about. Epic Heavy Metal with driving guitar riffs and mind-blowing vocals are on the menu. However, the surprise lies in how much of it is available on this album. Every track seems to grow on the listener quite rapidly, whether it is the catchy "Mind, Body, Spirit" or more intricate opuses such as "A Whisper of Death".

Very entertaining album, but regarding the genre - that's definitely Power! And it's quite obvious imo, much more Power than Symphonic or Heavy as tagged.

Those small parts and talking parts is OK in concept album but still more I think this band is overated
This was most manowar album ever from band, what is problem use same lyrics and put 80's sound guitar , heavyer riffs why band cant do it ? what is the problem , boring album only ending part gets heavyer

So interludes and spoken word passages are okay until you find out it's not a concept album? Then all of a sudden the music sucks.

Seems legit.

Ending part gets heavier? The album opens with the heaviest song the band has probably ever recorded "Invictus".

It's also a concept album, it follows from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Part II.

I don't think this band is for you based on your comments under each album

An another great album by VS. I usually talk shit about 75+ min albums, but this time I have to make an exception to that, because this album really don't have that many filler moments. Even though it's concept the songs actually work really well as individual pieces. There's no need to skip many of the tracks, at least the longer tracks are all pretty much safe to listen again.

Oh this is such awesome work and both Edward and Frank is beasts on this album. Delivering some excellent and furious performances. The band overall was also best musical wise at this point in time, I remember listening to a bootleg from the tour supporting this album and the band was out of this world. They should try to release some live material from this era
