Biography
The band's story began in 1996 as a project of guitarist Emiliano Obregón, when he decided to quit his previous band to set up a new artistic project that would be known as Lörihen later on. Drummer Hernán Rios and some other musicians joined the guitarist to complete the first line up in 1997. The group has changed some of its members, but both the drummer and the guitarist remain in the band. Lucas Gerardo (vocals), Nicolás Ciancio (bass) and Julián Barrett (guitar) make up the present formation of Lörihen Not only has Lörihen been a headliner in several local festivals, but it has also shared the stage with international bands such as Exodus, Stratovarius, Vision Divine, Labyrinth, HammerFall (including a show in Uruguay), Rhapsody Of Fire, Shaman, and Angra. By the time the band released its third album "Paradigma", they started touring the entire country for two years, playing all over 65 cities between 2003 and 2004. The first concert was given in Buenos Aires on December 20th and was recorded live, this was the first step for the forth album and first live work. VIVO 2012 was released on November 2005 by the record label Icarus Music. As far as the shows outside Argentina are concerned, the band has taken its music to Bolivia and Uruguay in five opportunities, thus establishing a close relationship with the Uruguayan public. Its performance in the Monsters Of Rock festival in 2005, with Judas Priest and Whitesnake is one of the highlights in the band's history, playing for 20.000 people. The band has played on many national TV and radio programs such as FM ROCK AND POP, MUCH MUSIC, CANAL DE LA MUSICA, RADIO NACIONAL y FM LA TRIBU among others. The present finds Lörihen on studio working on its fifth album to be released in May 2007. After several years of hard effort, Lörihen has built a reputation in the South American music market, making it clear that one of its strengths is live concerts. Lörihen's shows excel due to their musical soundness, elaborate climatic changes on stage, and the audiovisuals projected while the band plays live. The name Lörihen was originally taken from the famous book by J.R.R. Tolkien "Lord of the Rings", and changed later for aesthetic reasons.
