Swedish metallers Sabaton seem to be working on a new album. Frontman Joakim Brodén recently sat down for an interview with TV War where he discussed the upcoming Sabaton album (and when to expect it). For the fans, the good news is that the follow-up to The Last Stand is coming next year.

Singer Joakim Brodén has confirmed that the band is planning to release a new record in 2019. "Obviously, we're gonna start making that album ? well, we already started, actually, songwriting; songwriting never stops for us," he told Greece's "TV War" in a new interview (see video below). "But, of course, next year there will be an album. We're not gonna get old and start taking eight years between albums."

You can watch the full interview here.

Well I'd rather have a band that takes 8 years to make a great album than one that takes 2 years and releases an average one tbh. I don't really care how long it takes for a band to make a new album, as long as the wait was worth it.

Given that I found their last record quite average, I just hope they don't release another average one, just for the sake of releasing it as quickly as possible.

But business constraints, contract negotiations etc.

Yes, you're right that something like that is often the cause of these kinds of album outputs. And the music quality often suffers from it unfortunately.

It's pretty much obvious it's nearly impossible to release a masterpiece on a 2 year gap basis. When a band really takes its time to work on a record, it almost always shows. But labels, obviously.

Funny thing, 2012: "WINTERSUN 8 YEARS BRUH", 2018: "Well I'd rather have a band that takes 8 years to make a great album than one that takes 2 years and releases an average one", +5 thumbs up. Glad to hear it, tho.

Last Sabaton was maybe their worst. I was however surprised Heroes was that good.

Maybe The Last Stand wasn't that good, but still there are couple of great songs - Sparta, The Lost Battalion, Winged Hussars and especially eponymical The Last Stand, which is one of my most favorite ever

So as long as I will get something like this again, I will be satisfied
