Fen - Split With Drummer, Announce Replacement

After 4 years, UK's Fen parted ways with drummer Havenless aka Pete Aplin. Replacing his spot as the new permanent drummer will be JG (Craven Idol, Crom Dubh). Full statement from the band's guitarist/vocalist The Watcher can be read down under.

Full statement from The Watcher: "We realise we have been quiet for a while, however even in these troublesome times where a pall of concern hangs over most facets of the music world, rest assured that the creative energies continue to flow through us utterly undimmed - indeed, if anything, somewhat heightened by the encroaching sense of dread flowing through so many threads of our reality.

"However, as with many things in life, we face another phase of change and one cycle has come to an end - it is with some sorrow that we must announce Havenless has left the ranks of Fen after four and a half years of providing percussive thunder. He leaves with our full blessing and we salute the many things we achieved with him at our side - tours of the UK and Europe with legendary bands like Taake and Winterfylleth and unforgettable events such as Prophecy Fest, Doom Over Kiev, Dark Troll Festival and many others. Perhaps most of all, we hail his sterling efforts in making The Dead Light the record that it is. An album that stands as a testament to his skills and one that further drives our vision forward, we feel it acts as a fitting legacy to his time in the band.

"Nevertheless, we cannot dwell in the past and we now look to the next chapter of Fen with a renewed sense of vigour as we welcome JG of Craven Idol/Crom Dubh into our ranks. With substantial amounts of material written and JG injecting power, precision and inventiveness into our sound, we now embark on an intense process of rehearsing and refining these pieces to create something truly special.

"Many of you have been with us since the very beginning and we continue to be humbled by the support we receive from all of you for whom Fen resonates in some way or for which the band means something. We mean it when we say that we will continue to push ourselves ever harder, to dig as deep as we can to create records that are the truest representation of the journey we wish to take our listeners on. Even at this embryonic stage, we strongly believe that album number seven will be our most intense and encompassing expression yet.

"Thanks to all of you as we raise a glass both to the achievements of the past and to the chapters still to be written. And as ever, keep it bleak."
