Symphonic metal institution Sirenia have announced that their tenth full-length album, entitled Riddles, Ruins & Revelations, will be released on February 12th, 2021, via Napalm Records. You can check out the artwork, tracklist and watch first video, ''Addiction No. 1'', below.

Morten Veland about "Addiction No. 1":
"This is our first single taken from the upcoming album. Musically I feel that this song really shows a modernised and new side of Sirenia. I find the song very catchy, but heavy at the same time. Furthermore we have given the electronic elements a bigger role in this song. We hope you'll enjoy it!"

Veland on the album:
"Riddles, Ruins & Revelations is Sirenia's tenth studio album. The album is very diverse, as a Sirenia album should be. There's a lot of material that shows the band from a new side, and there is lots of material that is to be expected from the band musically. All in all the album will take the listeners through a journey that will cover both familiar and unexplored musical landscapes. We hope that you will enjoy the journey."

Tracklist:

01. Addiction No. 1
02. Towards An Early Grave
03. Into Infinity
04. Passing Seasons
05. We Come To Ruins
06. Downwards Spiral
07. Beneath The Midnight Sun
08. The Timeless Waning
09. December Snow
10. This Curse Of Mine
11. Voyage Voyage

A little too poppy for my taste. Morten has written some brilliant music and some really bad music. So I'll keep giving him a chance.

There's been some outstanding symphonic metal this year. Seven Spires, Delain and Eleine. This doesn't join the list.

This is better as they did before after widow weeds,,,,I wish Vibeke returns, this band needs Norwegian singer.
I dont like Eleine, I dont like Madde, I have seen band live.

What happened to the style of their last album? Thrown away for some hard rock electro sound...
It's just one song but it's not given my hope for the rest of the album.

Magic of "At Sixes and Sevens" is only a distant memory now.

I can't believe that many people failed to notice the earlier sound in this one. To me, this sounds like a combination between their first two albums and something completely new. I can also hear some similarities in this track with "Lithium And A Lover". The problem with this track is that the audio mixing doesn't justify it that well at all and made it sound too poppy.

The album cover is nice, but the song not so much. Another reminder why this kind of music rarely clicks with me.

What? How?! I've just relistened to "Lithium and a Lover" and it sounds nothing like this new song.
I can't even fathom how you've come to this conclusion.

Arcane Astral Aeons was a nice return to form album. Arguably their best since Elixir. This song doesn't inspire much hope that they will continue that momentum but I wouldn't exactly say Sirenia has had a great track record with selecting singles over the years either. I don't think the first video, into the light, off their last album was great either but their subsequent releases were excellent as was the album as a whole. I'm hopeful that's the case here!

While their last two albums weren't very good, their accompanying singles (Love Like Cyanide and Dim Days of Dolor) were outstandingly catchy. So the fact that this leading single ISN'T very noteworthy is worrisome...

The single is mediocre. If you want to make pop music, at least make it catchy. The cover is ok, typical for Sirenia's gothic themes. Cliched as fucked but not a sore for the eyes. Personally I don't like the new singer and I felt the last 2 albums were rather boring. The last 2 albums with Ailyn were the last that got me hooked up with Sirenia.

I'm not jumping around over this one, very.... blank. But then again, it's Sirenia, it can either be a totally boring album or a totally awesome one. But it seems to me putting a catchy songs on an album has become a new thing for Morten, so I still have my hopes for this one.
