Jesper Strömblad, guitarist of The Halo Effect and formerly In Flames, shared news about the passing of former In Flames guitarist Karl Näslund. The latter was part of the band for only a year (1993), when he played guitars on debut album Lunar Strain.

I hope it was a mistake to start the article with the name of a different band member than the one who died. Otherwise it's disrespectful.

I don't think it's "disrespectful", but poorly worded. It can be confusing for some i guess.

Probably most messed up part is that we were relieved it was someone else who had died 😐

Or that there's a possibility it was done intentionally for clicks. It certainly got my attention and I'm setting up my RSS reader to now ignore the author's name Abattoir in all future news postings out of preponderance of caution.

No need for drama. The last thing I care about the news are clicks or views or whatever it “counts”. I really don’t give a fuck about these things. And most of users can certainly acknowledge this, since I’ve posted 15000+ news up here so far and have been doing it on daily basis for 10+ years.

If you cannot read one fairly short news piece all at once, that’s your problem. The news text, which is easily understandable, doesn’t end after the words Jesper Strömblad…

Considering Abattoir is our chief contact for news on the site and the most frequent poster of news articles by a considerable margin with over a decade of dedicated activity on Metal Storm, filtering out news posted by him amounts to filtering out most of the news on the site. I would suggest not being too hasty and attributing one article with potentially initially confusing content (the article does open by stating the direct source of the news, which is not unusual in and of itself; it is only that Stromblad is a much more famous name that the late Näslund that it has the potential to be interpreted as clickbait in this instance) to an intent to deceive for clicks, or as part of some kind of wider pattern of activity, which Abattoir has not demonstrated in any form.

At least not that worst type of intention to inflate the score of shitty albums like new Nightwish and Wintersun by fanboys. Pretty much musclassia covered what I wanted to say about his impressive work, it's just that you folks overreacted the shit out of 2 lines.

As far as I'm concerned, it wouldn't affect us if you setup your RSS reader on whatever shit, it doesn't change Abattoir's contribution in handling the news department.

It is poorly worded, Karl's name should have been first, followed by "the news was shared by Jesper"

Anyway, sad to hear, Lunar Strain is an absolute classic

I don't think this is what they meant. The news of death of a musician, one that you have listened to all your life can be sad, sometimes shocking (especially if they are still young).
