The good old Immolation, you can't loose with this band if you are into Extreme Metal, there is a question that most Immolation fans can't answer (or don't want to answer, or don't even care), Is Unholy Cult better than Close To A World Below? Well I'll do my best to answer this question right now.
Close To A World Below is Brutal as hell, every track is fast as a lighting, music that only qualifies as Percussive Brutal Death Metal, I mean there is no other band that use the percussions as Immolation does, every song is packed with the lowest toms, the most powerful double bass, and the most noisy cymbals, not even grindcore bands do this (yes they are fast, but their drums often sound high-pitched), the Bass-lines are also percussive, the guitar riffs are very fast (sometimes I can't even tell what that guy is playing), and well the vocals are monstrous, one of the best growls in Metal actually.
"Lost Passion" I won't say more, Lost Passion is the best Immolation song ever, yes I know we are used to high-speed tracks, well this is high-speed but it also has an incredible melody (once you hear the main riff your concept of "The Best song in Death Metal" will change, and I am not kidding), this song is actually unbelievable (literally) every Riff in this song is catchy and brutal, the vocals have actually some cool twists and shapes, the drumming is low as in every other song but Wait a minute the drums are not clogged up or jammed as in every other track, I mean this time you can actually appreciate and understand the drumming in the most wonderful way, this song is the second best song ever made (the first is Suffocation's Infecting The Crypts) I really can't believe this song, magnificent, incredible, just Amazing.
As always the artwork, the lyrics and other stuff is very direct, profanity of course and anti Christian lyrics, so the real attraction in "Close?" is the music, The most brutal songs you will ever find, so about the question of which album is better, I don't really know, both albums are great, both albums are brutal, etc? but well "Close To A World Below" has something that "Unholy Cult" has not and that's ¡¡Lost Passion!!
