Souvenirs D'Un Autre Monde was something quite new. Its combination of Black metal and Shoegaze, occasionally referred to as 'metalgaze', revealed that even metalheads occasionally dig warm, subtle music conceptually revolving around a wonderland or fairyland, where the bunnies hop through gently sloped meadows and spring is everlasting and more wonderfully jolly things. Oh god, this is gonna be awesome for sure, and Percées de Lumière is going to be there, so that means this album will sound like that?, if it is, this is gonna rock, and cover looks great.

First three tracks: pure perfection. "Écailles De Lune (I - II)" always leaves me speechless, probably the most complete Alcest's song and one of the best things I've ever heard in metal music. Second half of the album: a bit less consistent, with "Abysses" as a filler, "Solar Song" as a "Souvenirs"'s rehashing and finally a great, enchanting acoustic ballad. Amazing album, really, but I only wish it was longer: after the first half it loses a bit of its intensity and seems to finish too soon  ... And I eagerly want MORE.Now I only have to wait for "Les Voyages De L'âme".
