Yob - Atma

7.8 | 74 votes |
Release date: 16 August 2011
Style: Doom metal, Stoner metal

Owners:

77 have it
9 want it

01. Prepare The Ground
02. Atma
03. Before We Dreamed Of Two
04. Upon The Sight Of The Other Shore
05. Adrift In The Ocean

Yob is back and crushing skulls with undeniably groove-laden thunderous riffs and Dalekian vocal shrieks. Atma would make a swell soundtrack next time you and your sweetie want to enjoy the changing foliage with a nice picnic lunch... and ensure no one else gets within earshot of your blanket. Oh, and Yob spelled backwards is Boy. As in "Boy is this good!"

Listening to the leaked version , this sounds massive

The Benighted
A grower to be sure. Still, a brilliant album, through and through.

How is their older stuff? anyone?

Superior to Atma, but that doesn't mean Atma is bad. Atma still built upon everything they have done, but they seemed to go for the more straightforward approach instead of taking what they did on the last album and pushing those boundaries farther. I still enjoy Atma a ton, but as far as my favorite YOB album of old, I would suggest "The Unreal Never Lived" or check out the last one called "The Great Cessation" if you are interested in listening to more of their music
