This is easily the most overrated demo in the history of black metal. How exactly this demo got so much praise is beyond me.

Probably yeah. Once you take the legacy, the image and relative originality of it, the super primitive, ritualistic approach is quite not bad. At least for a few songs (short demo anyway if I remember right).

I'm actually listening to their latest album and find myself enjoying it. Nothing to go all gaga on but I like it.

Haven't heard the new one, but the one before was quite awful. However there's a spin off project (think it's Von Goat) which I found significantly better.

Here you have: I think it's very decent and I dig the ritualistic approach. Quite slow at times.

Primitive black metal is one of my favorite styles of black metal, thus I enjoy the older material quite a lot. That said, the new stuff is not as good. As with !J.O.O.E.!, out of Venien, Von Goat, and current Von, I definitely prefer Von Goat (who are also on bandcamp here and here).

So, is Hammerheart Records releasing lots of unofficial bootlegs without permissions, or is it just this? Is it a label which should always be avoided?

Also, this seems like a mistake: "are NOT unauthorized"

Should be like this? "Are NOT authorized"

why just the question about Hammerheart? You could ask the same thing about Nuclear War Now or Hellspawn. But like NWN Hammerheart is a legit label, no idea about Hellspawn though.

Fixed, just in case, since I agree that it looks like a typo. Venien can PM us about it if/when he sees it and it's incorrect.

Yeah, must have been. Ctrl+F 'hammerheart' on this page (show more...): http://www.facebook.com/vonrecords/info or this: http://vonblackmetal.bandcamp.com/album/satanic-blood-digital-demo

Good find, thanks for the confirmation.

That's because I have some of those Hammerheart re-releases, some Thyrfing albums and this Satanic Blood demo for example, so it would kind of suck to know if there are more unauthorized releases, which seem legit. I'm not sure do I have anything by NWN! or Hellspawn, probably don't. But, do you know if this is just some soup between HH and VON, or is it something more?

I see that the re-release of Satanic Blood you're referring to is the one from 1996 and not that of 2012 (which was done by the band themselves) Hammerheart did stop to exist for quite a while and only restarted again a couple of years ago. That Thyrfing re-release is from last year as are the Necrophbic e-releases and some others.

It seems like Hammerheart has re-released this a few times, but this one seems to be from 2011 [ HHR2011-24 ]. I just saw it in a store and picked it up.

then they probably re-released their own re-release from 1996.
But after doing some asking around it appears that Von at the time had no problem with those labels releasing the Satanic Blood demo on cd, But only started complaining about it and saying it isn't an official release some time in 2011 or so when they had reformed and were planning to bring out a new album and re-release Satanic Blood themselves on cd, with bonus tracks.
