So guys, lately I've been on a journey to find relics as experimental power metal. You can find "experimental" tag on black or death pretty easily however it seems this genre is stagnated in a way that it's almost impossible to find something different among power, melodic or even neighbours such as heavy, speed, symphonic metal bands.

So far, what do you think of these?
Rainbowdragoneyes: Chiptune/power metal

Magic Hammer: Power metal/eurobeat

Xenon Maiden: power metal using softwares (vocaloid) as vocals. (besides... There must be more of these, but still, it's pretty different I'd say)

Dol Ammad: spacesynth/symphonic

Anyone knows more?
If some more warriors would aid me on this journey, I'd be very glad.

Maybe you'll like Machinae Supremacy. They're not quite as experimental as some of the bands you posted here, but they might be up your ally.

Many progressive metal bands are experimental, and it's classified as melodic metal here.

Yea, but that's not what I'm talking about ( ˘ﮦ ᴗ ˘ﮦ)"
I'm talking about the hard to find experimental bands.

Sorry, I'm not too into power metal, but I do have a couple of bands that sound quite a bit different to the norm, but not really that different or experimental than the provided examples. Firstly I have Othyrworld/Sacred Blade (same band, different names), which has a quite spacey, relaxing and laidback feeling to it, unlike most things I've heard.

Then there's Lifeform, a power metal band with ambient/downtempo influences (I'm judging based on this song, haven't heard the album yet):

Both those songs are awesome, glad you shared them.

Aberrant Vascular is a pretty interesting band.
Symphonic metal with male operatic deep vocals. And strange song structures

I think it's after listening to your links in this thread that I started being reluctant to try anything Japanese-looking coming from you . You will not be interacting with me on this one.

Yes, they sound like the most interesting one of the bunch. But they sound more like goth (goth/post) than power metal to me. Maybe power metal was just a phase in may people's lives.

Sounds superhuman. I think the only other band I've heard go that high is Fleurity, though it's sounds less ridiculous when the Fleurity guy does it.

Do you mean the black band Fleurety?
Or is there a band named Fleurity? Coz I searched and couldn't find it... :3

Oh I see. In this case in which album does he do the high pitch?
Honestly I haven't listened to much of their stuff

Yeah I don't really know anything about power metal. I found Satan's Host a few months ago who are pretty bad ass and some people call it blackened power metal, though I'm not sure it really is.

...but I see you already know them -_-

All of them? The really high pitches are on their earlier work because he kinda blew out his vocal chords doing that.

Wow this is interesting, and so much better than the Fleurety I remembered... I should probably revisit it.
Other band with somewhat annoyingly high-pitched vocals is the early thrash metal band Tourniquet. But it kinda suits the song, differently from "Paladins of the Golden Power Fights With the Great Sword of Eternal Magic" =P

So once upon a time Holocaust was a NWOBHM band. Then stuff happened and NWOBHM declined. Some bands perished, some changed - going glam/AOR or doing something heavier. Holocaust started doing it's own peculiar brand of Voivod-ish metal.

That track was really something. Gotta search them further

If you like Satan's Host due to its powermetalness, you should probably give Desultor a listen. It's the same idea. Except that deathened power instead of blackened.

I've seen that name before. I will listen to it when I'm way less drunkenated. I liked things that are are deathened.

Here's a power metal band with a instantly memorable name that's quite, for lack of a better word, unorthodox - Slauter Xstroyes. They're an USPM band with very strong progressive leanings (if not actually progressive), song structures that tend to jump around, weirdly placed solos and fills, odd rythms, vocals that go high and low and a strong flavour for theatrics. It all comes together quite nicely and makes for some interesting music.

I love this thread, but I've nothing to contribute... apart from the already well-known Falconer, and I suppose post-Reckoning Night Sonata Arctica.

Discovering many heavy/power related bands today. thanks to huh... metal archives. yep :hides:
Anyway... This is more to the heavy territory, but I thought like sharing.

It most definitely wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but I quite like the lo-fi vibe to it, and you get used to the vocals after a while.
