"The Quaker"
Heavily under-produced, terribly unknown and extremely well written! I'm getting surprised every time I find this record.

Ah now here is some really fine stuff. Dark Quarterers debut album is a showcase of epic heavy metal mixed with some early progressive metal elements. Two highlights are the Maiden-ish intrumental track "The Ambush" and the excellent "The Entity", which got a killer riff around 1:30 kicking in. There so much praise I could give this album but since i'm very bad putting my thoughts and opinions into words, I will leave it short. If you are anything into Iron Maiden, Manilla Road or Cirith Ungol then give this one a listen.

There are two versions of this album. The original from 1987, which sadly is soundwise very outdated. What you shall look for is the rerecording from 2012, which not only flesh out the six songs with nearly 9 minutes, it also have great production. I have a 2CD release which contains both versions as well as a bonus track. It's released by Shadow Kingdom Records, so that's the version to prefer.

Yes, this is indeed a great album. I think it is their best (by far). Here the prog elements are still minor. They would become gradually proggier over the years, not to my pleasure though.
This one is basically still good old, straight heavy metal of the early 80s. Yes, (early) Maiden, Manilla Road and Cirith Ungol would be the references here.
I also have The Entity as the highlight song, but in fact I like all songs.
Sadly, quite overlooked this gem.

Brilliant record All their records are a good listen but this one is special, all 6 tracks are spectacular and could be considered classics in the genre.

Its bad quality brings a dark element at the proposal. Not bad.

For some reason I was throw back by opening song, but the rest of the album is indeed very impressive stuff. Epic and melodic heavy metal with great guitar leads. Reminded me Iron Maiden, but it sounds as it is own unique thing.

Yeah, production is not the best but it is decent enough to understand how music is good.
