Armageddon reveals the beginnings of a shift in Equilibrium's style - sometimes a flattering shift, other times less so. This album pulls the band in a couple of different ways with a rather mixed result that has garnered some even more mixed reactions.

Great work as always. The highlights for me are Zum Horizont, Helden, Rise Again and Eternal Destination. Have only given this a couple of spins but from what i've heard it's one of my favourite albums this year. Not sure it holds up to Erdentempel, but there's not a song I dislike.

Only half of the song are good, the rest is just uninspired and boring :/ Helden and Heimat are my favourites so far. And i really miss a 10 min instrumental like they have on the most recent albums.

In my opinion its better than Erdentempel. Prey and Born To Be Epic are the only mediocre songs on the album.

Well, I gave it a try, listening to it for a couple of times.

I am familiar with previous Equilibrium albums and this is quite generic and boring. Ofc. there are some characteristic melodies and keyboard layers, but this album sounds a little uninspired for me. I remember two songs from it - Born to be Epic and this second one with Mario and chiptune sounds. That won't fit for me to folk metal band.

Disappointing. Pretty generic stuff. All their inspiration went to Erdentempel and none was left for this album.

Imo their best since Sagas. Really did not expect to say that after hearing Born to Be Epic, but it's true.

It kinda grows on you. The album's not bad and when you listen Born to be epic without having to watch the stupid video it sounds quite good.
On the whole it's almost about the same level as Erdentempel but I expected more from it.

Coming from someone who really enjoyed Erdentempel, some of these songs just make me sad. The band's technical skill is still apparent, but what happened to their song-writing? So many parts just seem out of place. I'm not sure, I'll have to listen to it a few more times and maybe some of the better songs will make me happy enough to bump this up to an 8.

These guys have really lost their magic. I remember when I heard Mana for the first time, I was blown away. This is just boring, even more so than Erdentempel. I miss the days of Turis Fratyr and Sagas

Digging it. I thoroughly enjoyed Erdentempel and still play it regularly, so I had high hopes that this would be a nice follow-up. There are some dull moments and unnecessary songs but for the most part it's rock solid. Zum Horizont is one hell of a good tune.

you will never have sagas or turis again in this digitalized world ! metal is going down slowly...bands are going empty (motivation 0, inspiration 0) and everything is hapening due to the technology that is getting bigger and bigger till we'll get to be autistic...

I almost didn't bother checking this out because so many people thought Erdentempel was better, which I barely considered decent after revisiting it multiple times. Boy am I glad I decided to give this a spin. Yes, Armageddon isn't the greatest but I enjoyed it much more thoroughly than Erdentempel. In fact this felt like their first real worthy follow-up to Sagas in my opinion.

The writing is more cohesive and there are more memorable layers in the instrumentation. The guitar and bass tone is so much better than their last two albums and that made me even manage to enjoy the cheesiest songs, such as Born To Be Epic, enough to not really be put off by them. Robse's vocals were way better on this album too. The best thing about this album is that there was a much needed return of some sort of an emotional element in songs like Prey and Eternal Destination that I didn't think Equilibrium was capable of anymore. Sehnsucht and Koyaaniskatsi were nice intro and closing songs, even though Koyaaniskatsi wasn't quite the last one, which was such a better mood than the downright pointless and borderline offensive Ankunft from Erdentempel. This album didn't seem to waste much of it's time in comparison to Erdentempel and I thought it just brought more to the table, even if most of it wasn't new. Most noticeably, every song on this album gave me something that I enjoyed and most songs did that throughout their entire run-time. It probably comes down to personal taste, but I consider this the only thing worth a damn in Equilibrium's discography in the last 8 years.

Well done. Don't trust ratings and comments. Usually I am surprised how some comments can bring a great album down or bring a worthless piece of noise on the level of a masterpiece.
