I pitty you're words! I really do. Sometimes I like their earlier stuff, but just cuz it's BM, but Cradle Of Filth the best in the world.... OMFG!

Well you have to admit that Dani's vocals are pretty unique and it's amazing what he does
I've got about all the Cradle Of Filth songs in my list, I used to be a huge fan although now I'm more into power metal I still love them and listen to them.
You may like them , or you may dislike them , but you can never deny they are actually pretty good!

Well I do like Cradle of Filth's older stuff, but I can't stand anything of theirs after Midian. They have a lot of talent and are extremely creative and Dani writes some of the best lyrics I've ever heard/read. They aren't my favorite band, but they are still good to listen to once in a while.

I think CoF is for people that are starting to listen to BM, some of their songs are good, and their Maiden cover is not that bad (Hellowed be Thy Name)

Im not A Fan of Cradle Of Filth.... I like their Iron Maiden cover (Hallowed By Thy Name)... But apart from that... I dont like them...

The artwork for Cradle Of Filth's forthcoming Thornography album was banned in the U.S., resulting in Roadrunner Records insisting that new artwork be produced. The final cover can now be viewed here. It's unclear how many booklets featuring the bannned artwork, if any, were printed.

Cradle Of Filth vocalist Dani Filth recently posted the following explanation album title:

"This title represents mankind's obsession with sin and self. The thorn combines images of that which troubled Christ, the crown of thorns, thus intimating man's seeming desire to hurt God and also, of the protecting thorn and the need to enclose a secret place or the soul from attack. An addiction to self punishment or something equally poisonous. A mania. Twisted desires. Barbed dreams. A fetish. An obsession with cruelty. Savage nature. Paganism over Christianity. The title can also represent a sexual attraction to religious iconography as in the case of the 'possessed' Lourdon nuns. I like the title because to me it invokes images of a darker, sexier pre-Raphaelite scene wherein Sleeping Beauty's castle is won and she is awoken by a poisonous kiss. A darker adult faerytale."

their Maiden cover is not that bad (Hellowed be Thy Name)

This song is one of my fav from Maiden, so you can understand that I was rather corious about what would a BM cover sound like (what can I say, it was 3-4 years ago). So my first impression was, that it sucks, then I listened the original, and COF version again, and I have to say that they managed to ruin this song 100%

CoF first shit is truly awesome... I had said some times that Dani Filth is my favourite lyricist, specially in the album "The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh", and their whole concept and music is extraordinary... let say also that CoF is one of the most original Metal acts ever.

The Only album by Cradle Of Filth that I don't like at all is Midian... it's to bombastic for me and it was great at first, but turned old very fast... all the rest are masterpieces, my current favourite is V Empire.

i have a very love/hate relationship with Cradle Of Filth
i used to love them back in the good old days, and i still really do love songs like 'Queen Of Winter, Throned'
but the way they are progressing worrys me
'Damnation And A Day' was a very very good album - i think it was very overlooked, but 'Nymphetamine' is the album i have some issues with
i guess generally it is a good album, but i really dont like the whole new 'gothic' bits and sounds and all the rest

when i saw them live they were very good in parts and sickening in parts too
they played only a few old songs, but that did include one of my personal favorites - 'Desire In Violent Overture' - and they were very good
but then playing just the single version of 'Nymphetamine' and whatever else - that turned my back up
but generally it was a good show

news of the new album worries me a lot, especially the bit that says HIM vocalist will be guesting on a track.
i cannot stand HIM, but still - i will listen to this track with an open mind and then decide what i think
but one thing is for certain and that is i will be downloading it before i buy it to see if it is worth it! all their others i have got the day its been released

And I also would really like to see this banned artwork.. Can anyone post it or link us to this.. Now that it's banned I think its popularity gained a lot ..

Also, I checked out the new cover Thryce was so helpful to link out .. I'm completely UNsatisfied with it, Cradle Of Filth has made better covers than this one .. And many better, I hope it's not definate!

The older the better, the newer the worst.. that's what I think. But yes, they have some real good songs..

I prefer the new gothic staff.. Nymphetamine is their best album for me, and one of my favourites... They are just great, and Dani's growls are unique...

I don't dislike the newer stuff, on the contrary, I like it !

But I do enjoy listening to their old stuff more, classics like Queen of Winter, Throned and The black goddess rises or A gothic romance ..

Like most people, I like their old stuff more. I think Dusk and Her Embrace and Cruelty and the Beast are masterpeaces. V Empire and Principle are really good too. I'm not a huge fan of their new stuff but it's still very good. I really like songs like Nemesis and Mother of Abominations. It's just not the same though. I guess I don't like the idea of Dani Filth appearing on Viva la Bam.

oh well, I thought it was cool to see one of my favority vocalists on television

mmm funny to see that most people focus on concepts like "poserity" (new word for the dictionarity), how much the bands sell, how much they appear in television to bash against them and completely forget about art...

I don't really know if Dani Filth is a sexually frustrated money-hunger asshole whose only purpose in life is to be filthy rich and uses Black Metal as a way to achieve it, I actually couldn't care less if he's one of the best musicians ever in Metal and also my favourite lyricist.

About this band, the more you discover about metal the more you are going to dislike the band. Let's say their music is very easy to access. Catchy tunes, a catchy vocalist(for an extreme vocalist) and a nice image. I am glad people finally realised this band doesn't have much to do with black metal. I still remember the discussions I have with other people on this forum wether they were black metal or not. The good old time..

Anyway, the old stuff is acceptable. It isn't really my thing, but for that time it was something new. The variety in Dani's vocals, the more gothic approach of BM. Yes, it was new and original. But I guess it stops there. Especially since the release of "Midian" Cradle of Filth decided to focus on a new kind of audience. A bigger audience. Nothing wrong with that, but the music changes dramatically into something..crappy.

Nowadays Cradle of Filth is a band mainly listened by 14 year old mallgoths who wanted to shock their parents. Of course, there are also older fans, but I am pretty sure they are fan because of the old stuff. The new stuff is just too..rebellious, more of the same, unorginal. The band who once impressed people are now just one of the many Gothic("black") Metal acts.

That summarize my opinion. I respect them because they influenced bands, but generally I dislike them for what they become.

good for them, if I know a 14 kid that listens to CoF instead of MTV bullshit I would be really proud of him... I also used to listen to CoF since 15 and I love them til this very day.

To me it's not a way of life
It's a genre in music that I like
Just as I like Cradle Of Filth, I don't care if I shock my parents or not .. it's me who likes it , not them who dislike it

As with any band, it's just a matter of taste of what you like... Not whether your parents hate it or not , or if it's BM or DM or whatever
