To find a warmachine we might search into black metal; the style with the most extreme sound. I think that Mayhem's drummer Hellhammer could be one of the fastest ever. But not only fast, he has also a great technique. If I'm not wrong he also joined Immortal for the Battles in the north studio session.

Well the fastest I have ever listened to is the Kataklysm drummer and the DragonForce drummer, but I haven't heard hellhammer in Mayhem I listened to him in other bands and he's not very fast =))

Inferno? He sounds really fast. It is just a guess though, I can't provide you with facts and stuff.

I think the best way to estimate drummers' playing is to watch (and listen of course) it alive. So Frost impressed me the most to this moment.

Wasn't that The Berzerker drummer the fastest in metal? I mean, regarding statistics and such. I am sure I read it somewhere. I agree with Warman, fastest drummer doesn't equal best drummer.

Hellhammer, Frost, Kataklysm's drummer (don't know the name) are all quite fast. And yes I too agree that the fastest doesn't mean the best. Flo Mounier doesn't play as fast as these guys but he's amazing.

@Taksekte. The Berzerker uses a drum machine. Or are you directing at their live drummer? Don't know who that is, but he most have some musculair arms and legs, for The Berzerker's stuff.

Reno Killerich from Panzerchrist... and it's not my personal opinion, is a FACT... no one had ever reached his mark of 850 drumbeats for minutes, in metal or in any other kind of music... I guess this thread has no reason to exist anymore

Well, Flo is one fast motherfucker, but I've always considered Charlie Benante the king of the snare drum. However, I think Mike Hamilton of Deeds of Flesh has the fastest double kick. I saw them live recently and I was shocked at how fast the double bass was. *edit* Now that I think about it, Nick Barker's work in Anaal Nathraakh is incredible. He played for them on BBC radio or some shit like that and he was playing at the same pace as the drum machine that they use.

Leon Macey from Mithras is among the fastest, not the fastest, but quite close, he reaches up to 340 bpm, and not only is he fast as hell but also extremely talented and btw, the guys from Kataklysm and DragonForce are fast, but certainly not even close to the fastest drummer, btw2, The Berzerker hav a human drummer on their latest album btw3 ( ), 850 bpm isnt even possible for drumming, already 260 is extremely good, over 300 is amazing, 850 just isnt possible, (perhaps you were referring not to beats but hits per minute? )

Tim Waterson holds the world record (according to Worlds Fastest Drummer) for fastest double bassing on drums, with a record of 1,030 singles and 1,407 doubles. He uses an unusual technique of playing both "heel-up" and "heel-down" where he alternates each stroke with each technique. This method is known as the Heel-Toe Technique.

I saw him with Hate Eternal some days ago, and the audience dropped their jaw in amazement, when he let his feet work, and did double pedals. He didnt make one single mistake, fantastic drummer, playing with one of my favourite US death metal bands.

Well The Berzerker's drummer is an extremely fast drummer, although there is no proof whatsoever that he is the fastest. Anyway, Marco Pitruzzella of Vornagar is probably another of the fastest drummers I've heard. Very quick with his hands and feet.

Well, Tim Waterson may be the fastest in the world but as far as drummers in bands go, lets see. A few very fast drummers I can think of are Inferno (Behemoth), George Kollias (Nile) and Pete Sandoval (Morbid Angel).

J Read: most noticibly in revenge (can). if you listen to the drumming in particular, it seems insane that that is only one drummer. it sounds like they layered 2 recordings.
