Yay, new Noble Dechet =) Also, there's this topic now. I didn't find the one for this year.

New CroissantChicago that I missed earlier this year. It always blows my mind how these guys manage to make the voice synthetizers sound alive:

My AOTY so far is Broadcast's Spell Blanket, a collection of demos and fragments for what would have been their next album. Heartwrenching stuff. The Beth Gibbons album feels like a continuation of Third rather than her solo album; what Portishead might have been if they cut down the electronics even further. Mabe Fratti's cello continues to weave magical electroacoustic avant folk/art pop: Anastasia Coope's freak folk reminds me a bit of Diane Cluck, one of my favorite new discoveries: Litku Klemetti is consistently my favorite active Finnish-language artist (though Oranssi Pazuzu gave her a run for her money). Such layered, simultaneously nostalgic and forward-looking bedroom pop: (And yeah, I really did like Brat, almost as much as How I'm Feeling Now...)

Two huge albums dropped today: Mount Eerie (huge for me) and The Cure (huge for the world), and both seem really good on first sampling.

Written by IronAngel on 01.11.2024 at 08:20 I am a fanboy, so you can take my words with a pinch of salt, but Songs Of A Lost World is just what every Cure fan was hoping for. Their best since Bloodflowers, easily. I won't say more because I will write about it in the upcoming non-metal article.
