Posts: 4930 Written by Boxcar Willy on 12.12.2024 at 15:36 Hadn't heard her before. Still making my mind up after two spins, but I really like her style of easy-listening soft-rock. In addition to the 70s influences, I hear Sade and occasionally Stereolab, even. Not exactly the same sound, but it serves that lazy coffee shop morning vibe that Pearl Charles' Fleetwood Mac -tributing Magic Mirror did in 2021. There's not too much music like that, so it's welcome. Feels a bit uneven though, I imagine a few songs will stay in my thematic playlists rather than coming back to the full album.

Nice list! Love the variety even though I disagree with a lot of the picks  strangely that Midwife album is the one lately that’s been bringing me back repeatedly months after hearing it. Also that Maruja EP is probably my favorite think I’ve listened to all year and I love the new single as well!

For whatever reason, I didn't listen to this album as much as the previous few, but I'd be hard-pressed to say one is better than the others. She does her very specific thing, and it suits me fine. I recommend that Clinic Stars album for a similar minimalist dream pop/slowcore style. And Maruja, yeah. This was a good year for post-rock, which is not something I expected. Between Ramper, Maruja, This Is The Glasshouse, the new GY!BE, samlrc, and Panglossian, there was good fresh post-rock from various different styles.
