Well, instead of limiting our football talk to just the American Metalstormers thread, I decided to just make a topic about it so that everyone can be included.
My favorite football team is the Seahawks and my favorite player is either Lofa Tatupu or Ken Hamlin. My team got bitch slapped by the Bears recently, but we did suffer from significant injuries.
Anyways, who's your favorite team and player?
Who do you guys see going to the Superbowl this year? It's kinda hard to predict because if a key player gets an injury, the team is basically screwed. I think the Colts have a good chance of finally making it, and will either play the Seahawks or the Bears. I doubt that the Steelers will repeat this year because they haven't looked all that great. Well, I can only hope.

I just hope that the refs don't ruin the game. I've always said that a no call is better than a bad call.
I think that Grossman should wear a Colt's jersey. That way he'd be throwing to the correct team
I still say that the Bears will win though. I'm finally starting to get hyped for the game.

I lawled at the Grossman comment. I am hyped and nervous for the game. It is two days away and I already have a strange feeling in my gut. I got the same way before the Saints game, so maybe this is a good sign.

I'm from Illinois and even though I don't watch much football, I'm putting my faith in the Bears.

An Illinois brother. Hell yeah dude. Bears FTW! They are saying it is going to be raining down in Florida. That may or may not make things a little more interesting.

It's only the 1st Quarter right now and it's already the sloppiest game I've ever seen in my life. Makes it more entertaining, I guess.

Here in France, we hardly get any of the NFL games on TV. Yet we had last year's Super Bowl and this year's semi finals and Super Bowl. Since it's broadcasted past midnight and that one game takes like 3 hours to end, I have only watched the first half of each of these games, except yesterday since I had to stop after the first quarter.
And what is weird is that after I turn off the TV, the other team wins... It's been like that every time! Well at least, yesterday's first quarter was fun to watch.

I got kinda drunk near the end of the second half so I don't really remember what happened. After seeing Hester run for a TD on the opening kick off and then seeing Manning throw an interception, I thought it would be an easy win for the Bears.
I was literally this *positions pointer finger right next to corresponding thumb* close to betting on the Bears winning the game.

Damn it, missed all but the last few minutes and the bloody speechs afterwards. Hopefully I'll catch a replay of it today or something, but by the looks of the rain and what you've said already from the game doesnt sound like I missed a very good game...

I thought that kickoff was going to set the tone for the whole game. Sadly, Grossman had to play at some point...

I was pretty drunk as well, but essentially two dudes are working under the hood of car and one takes out a snickers and puts it in his mouth. The other sees this and starts eating it from the other end out of lust for the sweet, sweet candy. They then meet in the middle and kiss. After that fact try to reclaim their manhood by tearing off their chesthair. I also believe that the ad had multiple endings.

haha oh yeah, I remember that one. I actually only saw the part where they ripped off their chest hair, so I didn't really understand it until now.

Anyone watch the Pro Bowl? I had it on, but I was busy on the computer the whole time. The only play I really saw was Tony Homo's interception.

Well, the last few days have been interesting in the NFL. Here's a look at some of the more significant transactions that have been made from the top of my head:
-Bucs sign Jeff Garcia, and traded for Jake Plummer, who might retire
-Titans release Henry
-Saints release Joe Horn
-Clements signed with the 49ers (8 year $80 million contract)
-Patriots waive Dillon
-WR Drew Bennett signed with the Rams
-Adalius Thomas signed with the Patriots
-Dre Blye traded to the Broncos for Tatum Bell
-Texans cut Moulds
-Chargers waive McCardell
I'm pissed that the 49ers beat the Seahawks in the pursuit for Clements and I'm also annoyed at the Dre Blye situation. I think that the Lions/Broncos trade will be beneficial for both teams, but I'm sad to see players such as Keenan McCardell and Corey Dillon cut.
Thoughts?

yeah, same here. Horn likes to run his mouth, so I guess their relationship was fairly dysfunctional...or maybe it was a salary cap move. I wonder what team he'll go to...
Edit- Looks like he's pretty interested in the Falcons. If he signs with them, I'm predicting he's just going to slowly die with that team, seeing how Michael Prick is their QB.

Well, the Dolphins just overpayed for the trash talking piece of shit Joey Porter. They signed him to a five year $32 million contract with $20 million in guarantees.
RB Thomas Jones signed a four-year, $20 million contract that includes $12 million worth of guaranteed money, with the New York Jets. He was scheduled to go into the last year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent after the 2007 season. Looks like the Bears have more failth in Benson than I thought...
RB Travis Henry agreed to a five-year contract for $22.5 million that includes $12 million worth of guaranteed money with the Denver Broncos. hehe...that was fast.
The Seahawks just signed DE Patrick Kerney, formerly with the Falcons. He's a good player, but he's 30 years old so I'm not sure how long he will last.
Denver gave Seattle a big 'fuck you' by signing TE Daniel Graham on a five-year, $30 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed. We've been courting him for a while now, and we didn't even offer a contract to our starting TE, Jeremy Stevens. We also cut our backup TE, Itula Mili. However, it seems like we're now trying to get McMichael from the Dolphins, so we might not be entirely screwed in our TE situation.

Well, the NFL draft started today and so far the results have proved that Detroit is the dumbest NFL franchise in the league. They picked WR Calvin Johnson, who is probably the best player in the draft, but the Lions are already loaded with talented wide receivers. Oh well, I'm glad I don't live in Detroit.
My team doesn't pick until the 55th spot
