I just came across this letter, thought I'd pass it on. Megadeth frontman issues open letter to Metallica

That's very sentimental, but it's good to seem some frank communication between them. ... Who knows, maybe one day we'll see the two bands on stage together playing each other's songs.

What if the ceremony invitation was misunderstood? What if it was meant as some horrible joke to rub in Dave's face?

Wow. Our dear Megadave has come into contact with something (anything) and is not all, , butthurt and a gay whiny bitch as a result. That's a new one. Especially if that something has any releation to Metallica. I wonder if Megadave actually wrote this or if the invitation was stolen by Megadave's manager prior to him recieving it and who wrote that letter to avoid stirring up shit again which hurts the sales. Maybe he's had a change of heart or something...

01.03.2009 - 00:12 Written by Doc G. on 01.03.2009 at 00:01 What I meant was simply that it was a nice (and nearly an unexpected) change from his general behaviour of starting all kinds of ridiculous shit over nothing and then whining his ass off whenever Metallica is mentioned. What I meant about hurting sales was the fact that said ridiculous shit makes a bunch of people go all and not buy his albums. In fact, that entire paragraph about his manager was a joke and nothing serious. And yes, we have rednecks here too, we call them Norrlänningar, but I'm not one of them.

01.03.2009 - 09:20 Written by ForeverDarkWoods on 01.03.2009 at 00:12 Yeah I understand what you mean about certain people not buying his albums out of stupid loyalty to another band, but I doubt these types of people will change their views on him because of one little letter. The reason I ask about rednecks is because I've never come across anyone who puts as much unnecessary homo-bashing into his speech as you without having a mullet, a few missing teeth, unshowered or whatnot...doesn't really make you come across as very intelligent.

03.03.2009 - 06:44 Written by [user id=39359] on 03.03.2009 at 06:31 Pfft, I would not count on it. Sure I prefer Megadeth, and sure I think the members of Metallica are all bigger douchebags than Dave Mustaine (which is saying a lot, considering Dave Mustaine is a pretty big douchebag, despite his awesome music). But that letter did not seem genuine at all. It almost sounded like it was from the point of view of the fat kid that never got invited to the high school dance "Well, I was invited, but you know, I'm just too cool for that place anyways."

It amuses me as to how judgmental Metalheads are towards people. Does Mr. Mustaine really deserve all of this hatred? Really? He personally did something to you?

03.03.2009 - 21:26 Written by Doc G. on 03.03.2009 at 06:44 I dunno if it lacked in any sincerity, it did actually sound quite genuine to me. I mean, how do you tell the Guys from Judas Priest "Hey, I gotta drop the tour to see some old buddies go into the rock n' roll hall of fame"? I mean, it's Judas Fucking Priest, you don't just drop tours like that. But all the same, if the situation was different, who knows. Maybe he would've found a different excuse and used the same tone....the fact is, we'll never know.

If he died I think I would literally cry. However, that being said, he DOES kind of have a reputation for being an asshole. I dunno, he has a tendency to make legitimate points in his dick-mentality, but an ass is an ass all the same.

On a personal level I'm sure hes a cool guy, and hell, I could probably say the say for Lars Ulrich, but how they portray themselves in the media is what I'm saying, and unfortunately thats all I have to base off of.

Actually yeah, that's another good point. Who are we to distinguish the personality behind the camera and the one back stage? He may be completely different face to face.

So I got a question. Am I the only Megadeth fan that doesn't like Peace Sells But Who's Buying? I'll admit that the title track and My Last Words are great songs, but the rest are incredibly dull. I can't ever get through the whole album without switching to something better such as Rust in Peace, which I can listen to all the way through without skipping a single song. So is there anyone that else finds PSBWB boring, or am I a crazy Megadeth fan that ought to be straightjacketed?

My favorite track are by the way different. I of course love the title track, but Wake Up Dead is an amazing song. The breakdown with a solo is so great. I Ain't Superstitious is such a great cover, and Black Friday... man, this album is really different from Rust in Peace; it's not as fast and technical, it's more Heavy Metal...

Man, I've been watching megadeth's VH1: behind the music on youtube lately. I learned something I didn't know before. I leanred that his dad drug him by his ears down a driveway with plyers once when he was drunk....damn, no wonder he was so mean. And I thought it was funny when they were talking about his little league days. "I wouldn't let kids cross home plate. Even if I didn't have the ball I'd still deck em....alot of the parents didn't like that."

17.04.2009 - 14:07 Written by TormentoR. on 17.04.2009 at 13:51 it sounds faster than any Heavy Metal? pfff. Judas Priest - Painkiller. I watched GET THRASHED, but since I don't dig jazz I can't say anything about it. Megadeth's music used to be complex, so if that's the point I get. But I still hold to my opinion that it's more Heavy than Thrash.

17.04.2009 - 14:20 Written by K✞ulu on 17.04.2009 at 14:07 man,,, i didnt said its jazz nor i listen jazz, i say the dude Dave added a kinda jazzy feeling to thrash.. how ? well..you know, others ( for example the other early thrash bands, Slayer, Metallica, Hirax, Dark Angel, Kreator..) were fucking brutal you know, but mega was more like ( i know its sounds stupid >> ) " melodic " lol, he gave some more melodic feling to the thrash sound instead jerking on the sixth string most of the time.. more rythm more everyhing, you gave an example yourself " Wake up dead ".

Neither do I listen to Jazz, but in order to say that there is a jazz approach to someone's music, one should dig jazz to do that. And by the from the above bands, Metallica has always been rather melodic. As for the rest, I agree, Megadeth were doing something different indeed. But once again, the only album from their first four that I think is more Heavy than Thrash is Peace Sells, all the other were thrashy enough although had their melodic moments. Killing Is My Business was really something when I heard for the first time. It had weird approach, but still had a lot of frantic riffage that Peace Sells did have imo. Well, that's what it seems to me. I am actually eager to hear everybody else's opinion on the matter.

Yeah! Dave Mustaine is one of my favorite musician in metal history, especially when he was in Metallica his first band... does anyone what the reason he'd been kick out from the band metallica? in my opinion he's not the one who left the band metallica..correct me if i'm wrong...
