Hopefully my dear Uruguay will reach semi-finals. o/ Sure only possible due to the equilibrated confrontation with USA or Ghana in the Quarter-finals... a final is just beyond Uruguay's capacity, but reach the semi-finals and possibly a 3rd place would be a nice revival of the consecrated past

The Red card Kaka took was totally unfair, an he was the guy who got beaten all the time against Ivory Coast. The single dude out of control since the game against Portugal was Felipe Melo. This guy I must admit is not a player is close to be a criminal.

He goes wildly at the ball, sometimes very danger, but at the ball. Always. Sometimes the player can be late and hit the player but a normal "job" situation. Not like a kick in the chest or stuff like that. And Netherland win the game againts Brazil much thanks to felipe melo! He was the entire game. The pass for the brazilian goal, the head to own goal, the red card, this guy is a criminal mastermind HUHAUHAUHA Also I see a penalty in Kaka, but I don't complain penalty _o_ The game is over and the life goes on hehehe If Brazil played again with the same team an coach but without Melo against Netherlands or Spain we have really good chances to win, so I can't say Brazil football is bad. Right now is only misguided. I must remember that we win the Confederation cups with an awesome Final after losing for 2x0! We were out of this cup by a single game, a fatal Melo mistake and a bench without good options for substitution - this last one is Dunga fault cause there is plenty new boys playing in national teams that Dunga does not call. So Brazil football is still strong, we care for a good (and with experience) coach.

Now according to FIFA statistics: Brazil has 7 yellow cards, 78 fouls Chile 13 yellow, 79 fouls. Netherland have 22 yellow card, 126 fouls. in this game Netherland do 28 fouls with 7 yellow cards(in 1 game, made the entire Brazilian yellow cards) with 43% of ball possession. IMO they were too much violent. xD

Well...I was rooting for the underdog (Dutch), but the Spain eventually won. And fairly deserved if I may add, despite I don't like their minimalistic football. A rather boring match, especially for a WC Finals. That ref seems to like giving yellow cards for every dive, but serious offenses are left unseen. I was hoping for the penalties, but the goal from Iniesta was beautiful to watch, and to be fair, Spaniards dominated most of the game.

Posts: 15360 Written by wildchild on 12.07.2010 at 02:55 this game saw 13 yellows in all, meaning six to Spain. maybe the officials were quick on the draw? maybe there was little violence and both teams were chock full of pussies that fell to the turf whether fouled or not... i recall at least one dutch yellow being doled out for a play in which a spanish player stomped on a dutch player's foot then proceeded to roll around on the ground like he stepped on a landmine. or maybe i'm just a stupid American who knows fuck all about football and getting your foot stepped on is a card worthy offense? i watched BOTH teams have players completely fuck up play, too busy whining to an official to either defend on defense or get into position deep in territory when on offense, when a smart player for other team would have STFU, gotten the fuck up, and gotten back into play. too busy hamming it up to do something useful for their side. the game sucked. period. shitty finish to a tourney rife with blown calls and mistakes. as a joked with Marcel earlier, NEITHER team should have won shit. except oscars. The Germans get the win, Uruguay takes second, Larissa takes third.

First of all, finally we get our first star. Which is awesome. Now we can troll loud-mouthed Argentines over the internet, even if we just won 1-0 in the round of 16, the quarter-final, the semifinal and the final. However, this means that Casillas is a key player in the team -the best in my opinion-, conceding zero goals during all the four final games. This surely does not just depend on luck, but on a skilled defence and a talented goalie. Remember Germany's shots on goal or that Paraguayan penalty kick. Nevertheless, good riddance FIFA. As long as you don't start implementing new technology in football, all games will still be like yesterday. Players will still whine at the slightest opportunity, Iniesta will still dive "Masía style" like he was hit by a sniper, the Netherlands will still play total taekwondo instead of total voetbal and still blame the ref for it. Howard Webb is just awful, how the hell could he make it to a CL final and the WC final after what he did to Poland in Euro '08? You can allow some physical play as in the English Premier League, but yesterday's performance were not two football teams, it was the Dutch national muay thai squad versus eleven Spanish olympic divers. Blatter is the cancer killing football, I say. Madrid was crazy yesterday, you should have celebrated here with me Metal Storm!

One of which should have resulted in a red card. (De Jong's karate kick in the 1st half) Although Van Bommel's challenge from behind was borderline, and was maybe worthy of a red as well. There was some bad diving, especially by Iniesta. (who was lucky not to be booked for a bad tackle in the 2nd half) 1st, a disgraceful attempt in the 2nd half to get Van Bommel sent off, and then of course, the dive near the end of extra time that led to the sending off. Puyol was lucky not to be sent off himself, for pulling back Robben when he was going to be 1 on 1 with Casillas for the 2nd time. If Robben hadn't have been honest, and gone down instead of staying on his feet, I think Puyol would have went. Or he should have. All in all, I think the ref had a poor game. Which is a shame, as Id praised his performance earlier in the tournament, and thought he'd be good in the final. I do think technology BADLY needs to be brought into the game now. Its definitely time, I think. The 1st Argentine goal that was allowed against Mexico, (that was miles offside!) and Lampard's disallowed goal (that clearly crossed the line) are prime examples of why it should be brought in. Also, some of the challenges and diving last night were a disgrace to the game, and technology would have definitely helped there. The ref did have a very hard game to deal with, but I still think he should have done better than he did. Okay, rant over! lol

I didn't want Spain to win, seriously. they got through every match at the limit, not taking much chances and being generally a boring team to watch with a great defense, an inconsistent attack, and extremely tactical game. YAWNZZZZZZ i wanted the final to be Germany - Uruguay, the two most kickass teams of the tournament. seems like most of Uruguay's games end up being really fucking tense and dramatic, like the Ghana match which was probably the most intense and dramatic match i've ever seen. and Germany for scoring absurd amounts of goals if i had a phrase to sum up the entire match last night it would be - too little football, too much tactics! seriously, 90% of the time the game was fucking boring, Spain's defense was way too good and they were severely lacking in the offensive department, which, given they controlled the ball for most of the first 90 minutes, meant a very boring play. good thing things managed to pick up with the occasional one on one situations and the last few minutes were pretty tense too, but seriously i wanted it to end on penalties, at least there would have been one definite redeeming moment. oh, and the referee's performance was really poor, definitely not world cup final material. Blatter needs to get his shit together and start implementing technological aid for the referees. but i guess in the end what the scoreboard shows matters, so congrats to Spain, and i'm almost certain that Germany will kick ass in the Euro 2012 even without Klose, actually i'm 99% sure that if they play the same by that time they will utterly destroy Spain and Holland with their aging teams and win the tournament with no problems.

I couldnt stand the way the pundits over here (on the BBC) were tearing apart the dutch for being ''dirty'', and praising the Spanish. It was clear they were biased from the start for Spain, and that showed during the chats at half time/full time. I thought for a moment I was living in Spain, not the UK! lol They must have been watching a different match to me, because although Holland did commit 3 bad fouls, (one really bad that should have resulted in a red) Spain also commited a couple of bad fouls, and should also have had a man sent off. (Puyol) The diving from Spain was also terrible. (I only counted one blatant Holland dive, compared to several from the Spanish) Holland looked bad, cos they were given so many yellow cards, but IMO only 3 of those were really deserved. (and one of those 3 should actually have been red) I definitely think the ref bought Spain's diving/complaining antics.

Isn't this thread locked yet ? congratulations for spain, but the referee literally killed the Netherlands, Robben's ball in the second half was a clear foul and a red card or AT LEAST a yellow for spain's defender ... instead he allowed play to continue AND booked Robben for asking for a foul. anyone familiar with basic football rules knows that a tackle of behind is always a foul, a tackle from behind when the attacker is past all defenders is ALWAYS a red card, and the use of hands to stopping a player is Always a foul, and usually a yellow card... in this case NO action what-so-ever was taken against spain. anyways Robben really sucked with his first opportunity that he missed.. i know casillas is a real lucky bastard to have knocked the ball out with the tip of his foot unintentionally but still.. Robben should've lobbed the ball over the keeper

@Marcel: 28 fouls committed by the Netherlands, 18 by Spain. Some of the Dutch ones were really hardcore. Yellow cards: 8 to 5. The number of cards alone was not unfair, but the fact that our team is made of bad divers is undeniable. By the way, during the celebration in Madrid the players tricked Fàbregas into putting on a Barça t-shirt... Reina even called him "the future of Spain, the future of Barça". I'm scared of a new Barcelona squad with Iniesta, Xavi and Fàbregas in the midfield

But had he seen everything it should have been about 28-28 foul wise and 8-8 yellow cards and 1-1 red cards. Especially during the second half it was as if Webb had been told to fuck over the Duthc and ignore anything Spanish. Case in point being the corner which we should have got but was given a keeper's kick which resulted into the Iniesta goal. Btw I am not saying we should have won. This final was of a calibre and eveneness that it should have gone into penalties. Sorry, but the biggest laugh of the tournament is that Spain won the fair play trophy. Weird thing is that that is just based on so-called fouls (but those are the ones that have been called) and cards given. But only can be attained by a team that made it into the phase after the group stage. The fairest team by miles and miloes and miles was North Korea.

Ok, a little bit late, but I also have to say something: I cheered for the dutch team from the beginning, but after the first half I had to switch to the spanish team because how the Netherlands played was just awful, Van Bommel should have been sent off (if you don't give red for this horrendous foul, you have to give him a second yellow at least 3 times afterwards), De Jong should have been sent off and Robben should have been sent off. And that foul from Puyol would only be a red card if Robben fell, but if he continues running that is not even a yellow card, simply as that. For me Webb killed the game, but not because he gave too many cards, but because he was a coward and failed to signalize that he doesn't tolarate brutal fouls and so the dutch players continued fouling @Fair play trophy: Well, also the Spain were not very fair in the final, but over the whole tournament they were by far the fairest team! (at least from the teams that survived the group stage)
