I can't believe nobody has started a Megadeth thread yet. Not only are they a well-known thrash band, but there's always been so much controversy around them because of the Mustaine-haters.

Have fun discussing.

Omg Megadeth and Slayer together! Holy shit why can't they come to Belgium :p?

It's good Dave resolved most of his issues with Metallica, maybe it's time for all the haters to stop talking shit about both bands.

That won't happen, because a good portion of the haters talk shit about those bands for reasons outside the feud....

I've been just listening to Peace Sells and I realized why this album considered to be their best by so many people. Its sound is so unique and matchless that it will never be emulated by anyone. Not that I didn't like this album before, but this time it really struck me. However, I still prefer RIP, and by the way, I saw an argument in the Peace Sells review thread about which one of these is really faster and more aggressive, and I'd say that RIP is faster, but Peace sells is definitely angrier and more morbidly sounding.

I just recently got into Megadeth with the purchase of RIP, and I was wondering what CD would the fans recommend to listen to next?

Well, I'd start with their first Killing is my Business, then the next one and the next one; then you'll get to RIP and just listen to their stuff chronologically.

Ok well here's my bit on Megadeth.. I was looking forward to the new album but it didn't really do anything for me to be honest. I love Peace sells... and Rust In Peace, total classics and Countdown had its moments with High Speed Dirt and Symphony but I would like to see some faster pieces and a bit more brutality from their future stuff as I don't really see them as a Thrash band anymore but that's just me.

Well , I am a fan for megadeth but i can say that they have some shitty songs , but still they are a very big band , I'd recommend "Countdown to Extinction" then "Rust in Peace" then "Peace Sells.." then "the 2007 United Abomination" .

Countdown To Extinction is nowhere near their best album.

Rust in Peace

Cryptic Writings
Peace Sells... But who's Buying?
Killing Is My Business... And Business is Good!
The System Has Failed
United Abominations
Youthanasia
Countdown To Extinction

for its time, thrash was the most extreme thing out there. and megadeth, being thrash, helped influence many other thrash bands, which play some extreme fucking stuff.

Metallica can't play Holy Wars!!! That's guy is on crack. While he kinda try to sound objective, this blog was predestined to wind up with Megadeth winning. And how cool is it that Megadeth has more classic albums! What a point! Ingenious.

Two words, Dom and Lawson. As long as that name is attached to any article I take it with a heaping of salt.

Well I don't know the said scribe, but I find out he used to write for Kerrap and Metal Hammer, that should be enough to set off the lam bells for me.

Exactly. United Abominations was almost exactly what the title of the album said to be. The System Has Failed was immensely stronger imo. But for me Megadeth lost the plot after Rust In Piece.

Ys they were a lot better. Even their latest two are a lot better than that one. The World Needs A Hero is one of the worst possible starting points for this band, together with Risk

Oh man, I'm so sorry. That, Risk, and Cryptic writings should all be avoided like the plague imo. Everything else is good, especially the 80's and early nineties. But those three albums, with an emphasis on risk, should not be listened to, ever

Crap, forgot to warn him about Cryptic Writings, thank god you did.
IMO he should also avoid United Abominations. The System Has Failed is alright. But he should of course listen to the eighties stuff and the first of the nineties stuff. Seeing his taste in metal I am sure he will also enjoy Countdown To Extinction and Youthanasia

Well I disagree with you on that one cause The System Has Failed as brilliant songs such as Back In The Day (but probably great for us oldies who lived through those days) , die Dead Enough, The Scorpion, Blackmail The Universe, Kick The Chair, whereas Crypti Writings hasn't got a single one.
But United Abominations is truly a abomination
