Surprised to see a better rating than their last one but then I could understand the emotion towards Tomas. Music wise I didnt get anything more than their last one. A pretty decent album.

Don't underestimate the emotional impact, especially when Tompa and the band practically invented an entire category of metal that many others have tried to imitate ever since.

This reminds me of when Aleah Stanbridge passed 10 years ago. Her last two posthumous albums, Hour of the Nightingale and Aleah, are highly praised as some of the best Gothic Doom Metal and Darkwave albums by the community.

I can understand the emotional reaction to this release over the previous one. Tompa's passing is a big part of it for sure, but that's helped along by the punchiness of the production on this album. It sounds bigger and more present. It feels alive, and that vitality really makes the loss feel more profound in contrast.

This does nothing for me, I won't even rate it. I really hate the vocals.

Can't stop thinking about Winter's Gate when I look at the album art.

At the Gates has never been a top band of mind, so I suppose that's why there's no real 'emotion' in this one for me. Just another AtG album. Solid, but unspectacular. I don't mean that as an insult and I apologize to those who take it as such. That said, their debut is a solid 8 for me, at best, so perhaps this rating isn't anything too surprising
