I wonder what no. 101 would have been?

I like the fact that we're actually part of the history. In forty years, we shall tell tales to our grandchildren how WE WERE THERE when the worst album in rock/metal history come out.
And we will be heroes in their eyes. *tear*
And hopefuly the UN will ensure that it never happens again.

I'll tell my kids someday about the hardest days of my life, the list would go like this: 1-Listening to Lulu, 2-Aftermath of Lulu: State of utter hopelessness, losing faith in music..., 3-The War.
Lou Reed is dead to me and has been dead to me for ages, he should have stayed dead for everybody, at least musically, you have to ask yourself if friendship is enough a reason to debase yourself and tear down a legacy even farther down. I'm pretty sure they're going to hell for this. Metallica have officially lost their wits.

Actually that's quite an important album in many respects, and rather forward thinking in terms of noise music, one of the earliest examples of it in fact. It's not thought of in the way it used to be anymore, i.e. a joke.
I agree, that video wasn't half bad at all. Quite nice noise if I would say.

What? Nice noise? People actually enjoy this stuff? How bizarre.

It's an entire genre, probably with thousands of artists so yep, people enjoy it.

Yup, like Joe told you, there's an entire genre for that, which I would take any day over Lulu tbh. Joe's Merzbow video is a good example of it.
People who try to listen to Noise and somehow making an analys of the music are obviously missing the point. Noise is something you listen on the background. It might sound strange to you but imo the thumb rule to know if you like a Noise artist or not is if you can have the song played without you getting distracted/annoyed or actually taking notice of the track, if it passes by without you getting pissed off... You kind of liked it.

See, that's what I'm worried about.
If Lou Reed gave one of the earliest contributions to Noise as a genre, what if Lulu is also a similarly groundbreaking work that will spawn a genre of its own in, say, 10-20 years time?
A pretty frightening thought, if you ask me.

You have to ask yourself this first: In what way is Lulu groundbreaking?
Besides shittyness, I don't see how this work is original and groundbreaking in any way... Therefore I fail to see how it could spawn a genre... Hopefully time will show me being right.

I'm pretty sure people thought the same thing about Metal Machine Music back when it was released. Yet, today we see all those Merzbows and Skullflowers doing their thing with Joes and Rodrigos enjoying them.
Still, it's not like Noise is all that big even nowadays. With a bit of luck, even if Lulu shits a separate genre, it will be even smaller.

No, that album and others gave more than "shittyness"... It gave at least another perspective of sound, composition (in Noise's case: Non-composition), the use of feedback, dissonance,etc,etc... Lulu doesn't have ANYTHING new to bring to the table in terms of compositions... So: No, it's not the same.

Exactly. I'm not a fan of anything Lou has ever done but at the same time I respect what he did in terms of laying the ground work for a lot of extreme music, especially noise.
Lulu may be comparably awful as many fans back then assumed Lou's feedback record was awful, but at least that inspired something. Lulu is like...jam rock and spoken word. Neither of those things are original and both have been done a lot better.

I'm sure he's been stuffing himself with much harder stuff than Xanax already. Maybe baking powder.

Different shit, same effect. Viagra makes his blood flow to his dick, so there isn't any left in the brain and baking soda... it bakes your brains. So the name suggests.
As a wise man, named Michael Kelso, once said: Some people bake cookies. We bake ourselwes.

So it's clear, people who like That 70s Show don't like Lulu. It's that simple.

It appears your computer experienced an error while making this list. It's repeated the same action 100 times, overriding all the other data. You should download some anti-virus software I recommend Norton, but that's my preference. Hopefully your computer is safe though.

Norton is too mainstream. I use anti-virus software, but you probably haven't heard of it.
