As for the album, I fucking love it. Maybe a matter of amazing riffs.

I really wish I loved this album as much as you guys, but I just can't get into it. In fact the more I listen to it, the less I like it.

Yeah I find this pretty dull too.
It's funny how I keep feeling I'm missing something when most of the guys with good taste praise an album and I don't =P

Now that's what I call a rush of emotions.

A frigging rollercoaster, man.

Riffs abound, and an axe-guy like me will eat this up. The melodies and guitar tone have a more than passing resemblance to early Taake. I put that forward as a compliment, Nattestid being one of my favorite later BM albums. However, the level of emotion and conviction in the music is something that not even Hoest has been able to recreate in many years. Though the production has some grit, which to me is nearly a requirement of a good BM album, this is still extremely accessible in its beauty. They also use some interesting effects, Spanish-influenced acoustic guitar, and even bird sounds to add to the already deep atmosphere. On the downside, things get a little repetitive about halfway through. The songs are different, but maybe not different enough. A little more zest to the songwriting and this could have easily been a 9 or higher.

Innovation=7
Overall=7.8

This album is:

-Terrific
-Haunting
-Raw
-Melodic
-Somehow chilling
-Also psychodelic
-Well structured

The guy that made this, has to be totally proud of the Mesoamerican culture.

First impression (after 2 songs) is a good one. A bit strange that opinions are so divided on this album.

After quite a few spins I have to say it's easily the best 2015 album so far. So damn enjoyable.

It baffles me that Alex, Nathan and a couple of others truly dislike this one.

Iron Bonehead and Ajna Offensive who co-released it als have it down for January 9.
My best bet is that that October 12, 2014 date was the date pre-orders started for the cassette version.

Great, now 2015 has a worthwhile album again

Can't get enough of this album. This is the kind of thing that makes me jealous of the artist's songwriting abilities. Really, really hoping to see them live one day.

My Taake on the discussion of influences here: 45% raw second wave stirred with 15% usbm, 20% mesoamerican folk, topped with 20% of psychedelia. Thats the correct numbers

Love this, very melodic but not in a flowery way, get strong diablo Tristam vibes from the atmospheric parts.

Long time since listen. Forgot how freaggin' good this is. That first riffs just blows up your face and that mid-section on Bonampak is one of the best things ever.

Pumped to see the BTC in action tommorow!

Just because it's very treble-y doesn't mean it's thin. The guitar tone is one of my favourite aspects of this band/album actually. It goes well with the euphoric melodies.
