I like making topics today.

This topic is about Obituary. I hope everyone now knows they have a new album and that they're now giving shows everywhere on the world.

Obituary also had/have plans to make a new album. They said they wanted to make a new album this year in their opening letter this year.

Hail this John Tardy with his 'beautifull' voice.

Anyone know if it's true that Ralph Santolla joined the band? Just read it.

I read it earlier, too. It has to be true, since it did mention it as being "confirmed".

Ahem, as I have already stated, Ralph is filling in for Allan whilst hes carrying out his sentence.

Allan is still in the band, and Ralph is acting only a session musican.

Today I read in an interview, with the drummer I believe, it is not so sure Allen is coming back in the band after he's released. And they all say Ralph is a much better guitarist..

Yes, I read the same interview (mmm, didn't know you had a subscription to Aardschok) And of course Ralph is a much better guitarist than Allen.

Yup, I do. I have had it for a year now.. or two? I think two.

It also confirmed the rumour he is in jail for drunken driving, or was that already confirmed?

Ahhhh , one amazing band.

Read this it is so awful:
Obituary's brand of death metal leans toward the slow, sludgy, ultra-heavy end of the spectrum, recalling the most dirge-like Black Sabbath songs. The band decided that it didn't want to be pigeonholed according to its lyrics, and, accordingly, most of what vocalist John Tardy utters can't be considered language; it's mostly random vocal sounds, shrieks, and guttural noises. Obituary pushes the limits of musical extremity, to say the least. ? Steve Huey

Can't wait to hear Ralph's soloing on this. Maybe he'll even outdo his incredible performance on The Stench Of Redemption...

I am a very big obituary fan, couldn't resist to listen to their new album...for all who appreciate obituary's music let me tell you that you won't be disappointed, this album might be the closest to the "cause of death" era bringing back that old school sound that modern bands lack these days...this album has to be part of all who listen to the old death metal ways...to tell you the truth i have always worship "cause of death" as obituary's finest but "xecutioner's return" is the only obituary album that doesn't make me miss james murphy on guitars (him being one of my favorites guitarist, and influence of all time) "xecutioner's return" is what the name says...the executioner has returned to wipe out the mainstream softy, depressed-death metal out there that kids these days like to listen.

9/10 and long time I don't feel this way for a death metal album...hails to obituary, I'll be at the store for a copy of the new album no doubt.

The new album is absolutely amazing. It's a return to their "Cause Of Death" sound. It really brilliant. Ralph is simply a genius, just listen to his solo's on the record. It's insane.

Does anybody know if they plan on doing any touring/recording in the future? The closest they're coming is Cleveland, and that's on 9/20, and I won't even be back in Ohio until 9/15 by which time I'll be dead broke. Fuck!

I FINALLY heard a new song - Evil Ways. I like it, but I think it'll grow on me more after I buy the album. The song sounded different to me for some reason, even though it still had Obituary's signature groove sound. It's a shame they don't have Allen West anymore, and I think it would be awesome if Obituary had West and Santolla on guitars, instead of Trevor Peres, even though he's still good.

Oh, and the three guitar solos in the same song was fucking impressive. I can't wait until Tuesday...

I never knew till I read the current "terrorizer" magazine that donald tardy's least favourite album is the cause of death and he used triggered kick drums recording the album and he regrets using the triggered drums!

Yea Slowly We Rot and Cause of Death are the shit. Two great albums. Obituary's more recent stuff has been a bit disappointing, with the possible exception of Frozen in Time, which I enjoyed; it was one of those albums I would describe as "fun".

Obituary kicks ass!!!

That's pretty cool that he said that because I hate triggers, but didn't he use triggers in Frozen in Time too?

I still didn't found the time to give the new album some spins, but I guess I should, and I can't wait to see them finally live.

But as for Cause of Death, if I remember right, James Murphy was just in as an session guitarist and he is not mentioned to have written any songs, yet Cancer's "Death Shall Rise" sounds so similar to Cause of Death and it also features James Murphy on it.

Cause of Death - amazing album. I don't really mind the relatively slower pace of the songs. The important thing is the morbid imagery present. Killer riffsand leads , killer vocals , killer drumming = Killer atmosphere= killer album.

--Rare Song Posted Online--

A rare Obituary track, entitled "Executioner Returns", has been posted on the group's MySpace page (at this location). The song originally appeared on the limited-edition digipack version of the Florida-based death metal band's latest CD, "Xecutioner's Return", which came out last year.
