Now the most exciting phase of the Cup has started... the playoffs confrontations

Hopefully my dear Uruguay will reach semi-finals. o/ Sure only possible due to the equilibrated confrontation with USA or Ghana in the Quarter-finals... a final is just beyond Uruguay's capacity, but reach the semi-finals and possibly a 3rd place would be a nice revival of the consecrated past

Chile 0-3 Brazil
Chile could win this game, thay playw ell till let ball in and than .... dunno what but Brazil is not so good to, there wholes ewery where, Chile could make it, but thay give away, but I doubt its be better Chile vs Por

Nederlands vs Brazil
Same like Ger-Arg can hepen all, but both teams has week parts, coachges shood fix it and find how brake other team defense and belive me its posisble, because Brazilian team isnt unbeatible, if Ned score 1th and play well in defense lil like Italia thay could win , depends who score 1th

Sincerely this 1st goal stuff does not apply to Brazil.
I dont wanna be an asshole or stuff like that... but a team that win the cup 5 times do not have such a weak mind.
I must remember the game against USA at confederations cup or something like that... we were losing by 2x0 the whole first half.
And the game ends with Brazil champion with 3x2 on score.

And I'm not saying we do not fear Netherlands attack... I'm just saying that Brazil at this phase of world cup will not break apart with things like referee mistake, violent adversary, taking a goal in the beginning. We feel the weight of our shirt. We know the game we can play. We can lose, we can play ugly... but while the clock ticks... we will always be a danger.

I don't see Chile giving it up.
But I do see their defense doing an awful job.

They attacked till the end...but well, there is a lion called Lucio there...and you know.... even el mago could not do anything about it hehehe

Yeah.. I meant they give up in the sense of let themselves knock down just for taking a goal. Chileneans frustration was evident... the second goal has distraction written all over. XD

And just gets more frustrating knowing that you have to turn around a game.. when the adversary has Lucio, Juan and Julio Cesar.

Poor ''El Mago'' indeed... I was a little worried when he entered the game, since he had a great performance agains Swiss and Spain... he managed to shot with danger once, but overall was annul like all other.

Does Suazo seems overweight to anyone else??

I went to sleep at 3-0

seriously, the game pretty much ended there. Brazil were superior in every possible aspect of the game, and rightfully sent Chile back home. great attacks, very strong defense not letting anything through, it was almost a carbon copy of the Holland-Slovakia game but without the huge chances of the opposing team. Holland-Brazil will definitely, like Arg-Ger, be a very interesting match.

i'm hoping for a final like in the very first World Cup back in 1930, Argentina - Uruguay

Total of three confronts between Brazil and Netherlands in World Cup. Two epic games in 94 and 98, and humiliation for Brazil in 74.

Show of Cruyff, Neeskens, Rensenbrink, Krol and the others -_-

And the epic semi-final of 1998... I watched with 10 years old and still almost died

Narration is from our famous Galvão Bueno from ''Cala Boca Galvao'' LOL

Allow me to burst your bubble. That isn't possible. If both teams win their match, they meet up in the semi-final, making a final between the two quite impossible.

I hate to use a football cliche here but neither Brazil or the Netherlands have gotten out of 2nd gear so far. If they both play to their full potential that quarter final could be a hell of a game because I think Holland are a match for anyone when at their best (even Brazil). Looking forward to that one.

It's a South American world cup.

Not really. There are still as many European teams in the game. And there were/are 3 matches with one European team eliminating another one in the round of 16 while there was only one intra-South American match, so you can hardly claim that the South American teams are better than the European ones.

True but, at this Quarter all the games has a south american team.
The 5 south american team that were at world cup, just chile is out and was eliminated by another south american, Brazil.

There is also a chance of a semifinal with all south americans.

I think this is quite a single chance to this happens in WC history, or am I wrong?

Coincidence. In the round of 16 were 5 South American teams and 6 European teams. And all European teams were pitted against each other, so that they would eliminate each other. Doesn't have much to do with a South American dominion, but rather coincidence in the constellations.

Semi-finals without European teams had never happened. But this is the first time South Americans outnumber Europe in the Quarter-finals... curious fact.

But the chances of a total South American semi-final are scarce... Paraguay will definetly lose to Spain or Portugal (especially after showing so little football against New Zealand and Japan), Brazil and Argentina will confront another couple of traditional teams, anything can happen... and Uruguay will be playing an almost ''away match'' since Ghana counts with the symphaty of whole Africa.

It will be interesting nevertheless

Paraguay 0-0 Japan 5-3 pens

Good gamem , maybe mosy hardest in all play ofs, in all game you cant tell who's gonna win, there was not much chances , but it was interesting and hard.

Spain 1-0 Portugal
Unjustice one of who can win CUP goes homes, Portugal attack more, Spain won, like i talk many times win team who not attack more but have defending tachtics and score one goal, classic example Inte rin barcelona

Paraguay-Spain 1-2
Its be hard game, because its be werry werry harde brake Spanish defense
