Ghost sprang almost immediately from obscurity to a much more lucrative obscurity, now playfully shirking attention while glorying in the praises of the metal media. Well, by now we're onto them; we know their influences, we know their imagery, we know what they're all about, and maybe we aren't so hornswoggled by the spectacle anymore. How have they managed to build on their success?

Still my favorite album from Ghost. When I listend to it the first time I couldn´t remove it from my player for at least two weeks. Citrice must have had 100 or more turns...

Opus Eponymous, Infestisshuman and Prequelle are not far behind, but the last two records were just "good".

Can anyone explain me the hype? And how is this even heavy metal?

Quite easily:

1. (Hype) The songs are great, superb composition and delivery and most people seem to have enjoyed the album. There are classic songs like Cirice, Square Hammer (on the later edition), From The Pinnacle To The Pit, Mummy Dust, etc...

2. Its Heavy Metal / Hard Rock because it uses the classic distorted guitars & bass combined with percussions that often use fast tempos & double-bass drumming. Riffs are usually heavier than classic rock but still based on the blues scale and often using minor chords. There's usually a heavy atmosphere and dark themes.

So besides that I'm guessing you're trying to convey that you didn't like the album? That's fine, different strokes for different folks. But Its definitely metal and the hype is absolutely justified.
