I see no conventional true (power, heavy) metal at all and above that, there's quite some stuff that can't even be labeled metal. Eventually, it's just a chronological list of songs that I love(d) and sadly enough, it shows nothing but the narrow limits of my musical taste.

We have fewer songs in common than in the first part of your list--though part II has twice the number of songs! My exlanation for this observation is that we both came to Metal in the 80s/90s--you end of 80s, me beginning of 90s. So we share a lot over this time. Later on then, our paths may have split, but only slightly that is I guess. Posts: 3579 Written by Redel on 29.05.2019 at 22:01 Thanks! Well, we had a very distinct common ground in the 90s: doom/death. There's just been a manageable number of releases of this kind back then, so we naturally stumbled upon the same albums. The separating factor is that I've never been into power metal and that my thrash phase didn't last very long, so I had to set out for new shores (german bm, grind, some punk) in the mid 90s. I guess these influences have ultimately spoiled my acceptance for power metal and at times, for thrash metal as well. Tried to get into some of your favorites (Iced Earth, Nevermore, Sodom, Gamma Ray, etc.) more than once but it just wouldn't work.

I have to say that I was pretty distracted from the metal scene in the mid 2010s, at times even totally alienated. It took me quite a while to catch up with everything, and that's one of the main reasons why I'm here now. However, Emptiness I do know of course. They're one of those many bands that a bunch of people whose tastes and opinions I value adore unconditionally, but just fail to inspire me. Don't ask me why, they simply never clicked with me.
