How can you restrain yourself and write distinctive, enjoyable songs when you wield the unfathomable instrumental prowess of a technical death metal band? Many artists struggle to escape the technical rut, and we wind up with a lot more Malmsteens than Morellos in the process. For Allegaeon, it's not such a chore.

Stellar Tidal Disruption was pretty good. Hopefully this one is edited down a little.

After seeing freshly posted video from their upcoming album, I was amazed that I haven't heard of these guys before. I've obliterated all their albums since then and consider myself an instant fan. Woah, these dude are good and that debut album...it's excellent.

Really looking forward to Apoptosis

Also, current vocalist Riley McShane would have been the absolute perfect frontman for Fallujah. I know, he's been with this band for several years now. Just stating the point that Fallujah should have done...something

Both Fallujah and Allegaeon toured with Obscura recently. Allegaeon smashed them out of the park, they were terrific.

Some thought it was over long but I thought Proponent for Sentience was an incredible album. The two new tracks sound great to me too.

Excellent album. This band has been so consistent ever since their debut back in 2010. Riley does an excellent job with the vocals, building on what he did on the last album, and the riffs just keep getting better and better. This will definitely be on my end of year list, I'm sure of it.

Whatever it is, these guys have truckloads of the stuff. I've been following them since The God Particle and they never disappoint.

Saw them live when they toured a few years back with Ne Obliviscaris, I remember them standing out and absolutely killing it on stage; been following them since and this new album does not disappoint, great stuff from those guys! Very consistent band.
Keep it up

I found some of their earlier stuff to be a bit messy and at times one dimensional (perhaps I was listening to the wrong songs from the earlier albums), but this to me is a significant step up...I still find a couple of the shorter songs a little boring but overall I have to commend this album. I wonder if they picked up a few influences from Ne Obliviscaris after all that touring together

Either way, add in a *little* more variance to the vocals i.e. a little more clean here and there, expanding on the harsh style a little and this band could really grow into something brilliant.

It's a good album but my main concern is that it bores me really fast. Not enough variety, and although all the songs are good, I won't be listening to this twice in the same week. I like it though, don't get me wrong.

Strange post. It bores you, yet you think it's a good album.

I think it's a great album which only gets better with repeat listens. For a death metal album, especially one as heavy on the technical virtuosity as this it has a lot of variety. My only negative comment applied to Proponent as well. It's slightly too long. At nearly 1 hour in length, it works better for me in two sittings. For greater impact they should have cut 2 or 3 songs from it. Perhaps they could have still included them as a bonus EP or something.

I like it in a limited amount, when I'm in the mood it's pretty good. But there's not enough diversity to be truly great or hold my attention for more than one full listen. I'm not gonna get urge to listen to it again instantly after the last song is over, like I do with some of my favourite records

These guys sure know how to make entertaining melodeath. Even though these songs might sound pretty monotonous and boring on paper, they actually don't feel like it at all - it's the exact opposite!

Yeah this is super good. If anything I'd have cut "Apoptosis" and ended the album with the absolute banger that is "Stellar Tidal Disruption"'. This is melodeath on roids, some of these riffs are so fucking good.

I don't listen to much death metal, much less tech death, because I usually get bored with the songwriting but this album won me over very quickly and thoroughly.

I thought there was a great amount of variety in the writing and album structure. I also didn't hear a single bad riff/section. The thing I like the most is that there is so much melodic consonance instead of constant BR00T4L dissonance which is what turns me off of a lot of other death metal. The acoustic and clean singing parts are quite nice and both are sparse enough for them to feel like a little bonus rather than a main attraction. Overall this album is a surprisingly reinvigorating experience for me because it has been a long while since i picked up an album from outside my usual tastes and was rewarded with this much fantastic material. I love the whole thing start to finish and I've come back to it many times over the last few months.
