The 2024 Awards cycle achieves final resolution with this, the last installment in our celebrations of the year in music. In the staff picks, we of the Metal Storm staff voted on our favorites of each category's official nominees and have produced these results to parallel the results of the public voting: in other words, the correct answers. As usual, we had some close runs and some ties, and even one double-tie that went to sudden death: Grindcore came down to a harrowing finish between Nails and Brodequin that very nearly resulted in the title of Best Grindcore Album being handed off to Dido's Life For Rent (the threatened victor in such an instance). A deal was brokered, but we'll welcome Dido back to next year's competition just in case.
