Enjoyed this way more than I thought. Not a big fan of the last albums. It sounds a little like generic thrash to me, but this is great!

DISCLAIMER: Thrash is a genre that is a Zero or a One for me. There is no grey area for this rather dated genre. With that being said, I enjoyed this record. I enjoyed their last record. It is, however, by no means, a ground breaking thrash album. If anything, it's rather formulaic. I think it's ironic that Schmier thinks power metal is "kindergarten" metal because if you changed the lyrics to fantasy themed, replace a few riffs here and there, Destruction would pass as a power metal band.

Any who, no hate on this record. Just wanted to push back a bit against the generous rating it currently holds.

This is by far one of the worst Destruction record. I failed to see them figuring out about this album and it sounds godawful boring.

Generic album, do they need make new albums. Kreator went gothic, why they change radical style. Celtic Frost has glam album.
Sounds same and even Accept cover did not impressed me.

Kreator gone gothic? Where the hell happened?

If I remember correctly, last 3 albums were pure thrash metal with Hate Uber being the melodic yet aggressive thrash metal, with no major gothic shift whatsoever.

As someone who loves gothic metal, I say Kreator's try on the genre is pretty good. Definitely better than the last album they put out, but this sound is still out of place for a band like Kreator.

Kreator gone gothic? Where the hell happened?

Endorama 1999 can be viewed as a gothic metal album.

Partially

To have gothic elements and become a full gothic band are two different things. BE's post baffled me to the point that I thought I may have missed the latest development about Kreator. Now speaking of Endorama, while the album does have gothic rock and metal influences, it was still fundamentally a thrash metal album experimenting with different sounds.

And your point is?

My point is that Bad English was very clearly referring to Cold Lake and Endorama (there was no mention of any recent albums) and that absolutely everyone, gothic metal fans and thrash metal fans alike, knows that Endorama contains more gothic than thrash metal elements. Even Mille knows that, as he has confirmed in various interviews that he took vocal lessons specifically to avoid sounding like a typical thrash metal shouter.
Or do you seriously think that the duet with Lacrimosa’s Tilo Wolff sounds like thrash metal? In that case, you must also believe that the album has been incorrectly labeled as gothic metal on Metal Storm and pretty much everywhere else.

My point was that I see one or two album sound change as bands play same 20+ albums, non inspirations and basically same, just different lyrics, after Cracked Brain band lost it I think and I dont know , to me new albums is one spinn off only

Destruction is going slowly.
I don't know, it looks like some thrash metal bands don't learned with their good albums of 2000s - returning to old sound isn't always good.
Destruction needs to listen The Antichrist again

Well Diabolical was pretty good, so this is more of a continuity in the right direction for this pretty awesome band ! Their first 3 are all-time classics, after that I have a soft spot for Devolution and The Antichrist... Day of reckoning was pretty good also !

Definitely a lot better than their previous ones for sure, even if that’s not a very high bar. Bands like Destruction need to step aside and let the youngsters do their thing cause they’re doing it tons better.
