In the tsunami wave of new metal releases, we all have our guilty pleasures from time to time. So, I’ll let the genie out of the bottle and the spirit out of the box, and admit: Spiritbox is one of mine.

I loved Eternal Blue and everything that came before it, but the following EPs were not on the same level. I was excited when this was announced and I liked the Soft Spine and No Loss, No Love singles but this was incredibly disappointing as a whole. It feels heavy in a way that’s really forced. Felt the same way about the last Make Them Suffer album. I’m sure Nik Nokturnal fans will eat this shit up though.

I'm beyond let down by this album .. exclude the opener track and you're left with a bunch of absolutely uninspiring mess .. wtf!!

The first song sounded quite promising but I find what follows, aside from a few moments, to be uninspiring and unmemorable. It seems this band has gathered quite a mass appeal but I've struggled to get into them myself.

That was hard to listen to...I honestly couldn't make it fully through a single track. I can't even say they succeeded at making something conventionally enjoyable; it's not catchy at all and the melodies are painfully boring. "Ride The Wave" was the only song I'd call decent, but even then...

I actually don't mind it as much as I thought I might - it's missing what made the initial EPs great, but at least they've also somewhat veered away from the bland metalcore tracks from the last one (thinking of Hurt You and Yellowjacket - bonus points for also not bringing Sam Carter back as a guest). What they're doing instead, at least on songs like A Haven With Two Faces (which I dig) is in a bit of a no man's land of being melodic but not super catchy/immediate, and djenty but quite mellow. It's not amazing but I wouldn't have an issue with listening to it again - kinda high 6/low 7 territory. That being said, I can happily avoid songs such as No Loss, No Love and Crystal Roses ever again

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It's almost good. Very samey throughout. Chuggadechugchug followed by melodic section, a little ambience, then back to chuggadechugchug. Repeat 11 times.
