In cold place in the north where eternal darkness stays forever and blizzard beasts coming rom the sea Jakob Björnfot decide to leave The Duskfall in late 2019 and launched his own band Kvaen where he masters vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards. Whit guest drummers he rekordet debut ''The Funeral Pyre''
Its like jorney back in time. Once I drunk beer whit Jakob and we spoke about music and he told Scheitan was pretty good(or cool, dont remember exact word he use) . Now imagine that bands debute album mixes whit 3 other Luleå bands from late 90's [band]The Everdawn [/band] , Gates Of Ishtar and The Moaning. While The Duskfall plays mdern sound of melodic death metal, made for young people who never know what life was in the north in pre dial up era, this band goes back in the days when people lived such life, when winter were longer, colder, summer was shorter and warmer. Its basically melodic death metal whit a bit progressive touch. If all winter gods will be properly worshiped and fuck up wont happen, this band has future, I can see they jump a bit higher if they will play live. It defenetly can nail the metal underground.

I gave it a perfect 10 today bcoz since it released, i am spinning it almost every second day and I had earlier given a 9. But today I made a re-think and couldn't find anything to stop me giving it a perfect 10.

One central riff circulating throughout the whole album adds that much sweetness to it. The songs are superb, excellently done. This is till date AOTY for me.

This album is so amazing.

This or Odraza is AOTY for me. Close call, and both great albums. This one might have the edge because it's a bit more original sounding
