Let’s see… Their music has always been one-dimensional to me. And 67-minutes of playing time is not a good sign already, lol.

Totally agree. I will listen to this tonight though, maybe things have changed. I do like the guitarwork on some of their previous releases.

First experience with the band and I enjoyed it, probably not as much as the majority because it's not my favourite style, but I can see the hype around this band.

First listen and I think it’s a little better than Mære but below the rest. I’m sure it will grow with more listens, it’s a big album to take in at once.

First time hearing these guys. The one-dimensional vocals REALLY let this down. The compositions themselves, especially the sense of melody here, are top notch.

That's what's bothering me with these guys. Music is really good, the vocals ruin it for me, can't stand them.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. The album feels like a well-crafted and 'complete' album, filled with expansive melodic soundscapes that balance a sense of melancholy with raw intensity. Even though they seem to be getting increasingly more 'post' than 'black'.

Same ... It's not just that they're not the greatest death vocals - their rawness kind of fits the bleakness of the older stuff, even if I'm still not a fan - it's also the lack of imagination over their rhythm, enunciation and placement. The brief sections with female vocals here are absolutely stunning.

After checking out the rest of their catalogue today, it's a damn shame; with more thought given to vocals, this band would be an all-timer for me.

A few great songs here, like all their albums. Can't say it reaches the highs of Maere but at least its more digestible.

I've not given their whole discography a good and proper listen but I just remember not really been able to get into them early on. I might want to rethink that and take more time to listen to their previous work because I like what they've made here. The vocals never did quite sit well with me, but although they're not brilliant and a tad monotonous there's something undeniably passionate about his performance, so I'll give him that. The instrumentaion is quite simple and drawn out, but despite the length it's marvelous, it has such dreamy soundscapes and is wonderful to just sit back and absorb to.

I thought others might have been exaggerating, but the vocals ruin this album. I've listened to a lot of music with one-dimensional vocals that didn't detract from the overall vision, but this is something else. I instrumentation is lovely, but those screams are really grating. They fit very nicely with the fast-paced parts, but it's when everything slows and spaces out to make room for the vocals that you really start to notice how paper-thin those vocals are. It's not just the tone, but the copy-paste rhythmic phrasing that makes them stick out like a sore thumb, almost like the 2-4 drumming on ACDC records.

A real shame because I think this might be the first record I enjoyed from these guys on an instrumental basis.

It pains me to say it but I have to agree, the vocals on this one are probably the worst in whole HFTS disco. That being said, in one interview I read they had redone the vocals for this album from scratch being dissatisfied with them at first. So what did it sound like?..

Honestly they just should have kept it they way it was done on first two albums where the vocals really sounded great.

I am going to add the same comment as many others: the vocals are very bad. I did not manage to play even half the album because of that.

The guitar tone is great, especially on the leads. The mixing on the vocals is bad which doesn't help their one-dimensionality. I don't think they are terrible, but they're definitely not great. 67 minutes is waaaaaay too much and I shut it off after three tracks as well.
