Good album, has it's moments. Somehow it goes back to their older sound, I enjoy it.

More energy and variety than the last couple albums, which is a welcome change. I love moody Sólstafir, but I prefer a balance of fury and melancholy. This delivers that.

Have to give it some time to settle in before I know how much it grows with repetition.

For ages we have wandered
Under the wings of deception
Too long have we been waiting
For the long winter to end

It's better balanced than Endless Twilight Of Whatever but I don't consider it much better as a whole. The last decade this band has shown almost no progression and they have mostly sucked since they kicked out Guðmundur. I feel like they are limited by what Aðalbjörn can do with his singing and limited moreso by a lack of new ideas. There is definitely nothing here I'd want to listen to a second time. I liked the sax at the end but that's about it. The only thing this album really did for me was confirm that I'm done with Sólstafir.

these guys really went downhill after Otta, this album confirms it again. another of those bands that was fresh and is now stale. kicking out the drummer was the worst thing they could do for their music/creativity.
