One of 2021's biggest surprised was seeing Hamferð's Jón Aldará fronting a progressive metal band on newcomers Iotunn's Access All Worlds, an album I really enjoyed, despite some issues I had with its mixing. Now with a new album out in just a couple of hours, I got to talk with Jesper Gräs about Kinship.

Doesn't matter that much to me if you agree with me, as long as you checked the album out.

Nice one. This band really stands out. I am surprised at how satisfied he seems to be with the mixing/production, since, to me, it is the only flaw I can find in their -otherwise- splendid albums. I laughed at how you sneakily led him to finally say "David Lynch"

I noticed the comments are off on youtube, maybe keep them on to drive engagement and conversation? I know about trolls and all but that's still engagement

I believe the reason that the comments are off is to have the conversation here, rather than on YouTube. It's a question whether it's better to post video interviews or transcribe them and publish them instead.

We're not looking for engagement. Youtube is a means to host videos for us. What we're interested in is building a community here. Not on Facebook, not on Youtube, and not anywhere else. You will see that our videos aren't monetized, just as we don't run ads on here. We're building a safe space for a great community here on Metal Storm, not trying to drive people into the hands of companies that treat their users as goods. And we're perfectly fine with that being a small community as long as it is an inclusive one with as little toxicity as possible. That doesn't align well with algorithm-driven content providers.
