Besides old school Metallica, Anthrax is the best band in the big four. Among The Living, State of Euphoria and (my personal favorite) Persistence of Time are all gems. Singing, guitar work, the drumming, the lyrics, everything is just awesome and fuckin heavy. And come on, N.O.T. shorts, hahaha shit is hilarious!!!!! After Belladonna left Anthrax, it went down the tubes. Bush is fuckin horrible and everything he made with Anthrax is garbage. Really wish the reunion lasted longer. The one band i haven't seen yet that I WOULD KILL to see. Thank god that Dan Nelson guy left, and THANK GOD Corey Taylor had other things goin on, because if he joined the band, the end of the world would be upon us. (watch him perform Bring The Noise with Anthax at Open Air, fuckin terrible!!!! you can find it on youtube) Yes Scott, and Charlie have been, and will forever be, Anthrax, but you have to have Bello, Spitz, and Belladonna for it all to come together. I'm pretty pissed they canceled their appearance at Wacken, there's a few songs i would have loved to hear from them, like Caught in a Mosh which should be a blast even if you don't participate in the mosh

For me Spreading The Disease is by far their best, then Fistful Of Metal, then Among The Living and the true rot for Anthrax with Joey on vocals started with State Of euphoria which is a totally uninspired album (it is telling that a over is the best song) and really hit rock bottom with Persistence IN Time (once again telling that a cover is the best song) Anthrax redeemed themselves a little with The SOund Of White Noise (probably due to the new blood of Bush) but then failed dismally again afterwards.

Why I personally prefer Spreading and Fistful voer Among The Living is the fact that Among is too clean and slick sounding for me. I miss the bite the previous two had.

didn't forget at all haha Spreading The Disease is awesome but i don't think its as good as the other three. Madhose, Medusa, Armed and Dangerous, great songs. I just don't to that album very often. There will be times when im in to it, but with the other three, doesn't matter when where or why i WILL listen to them haha

Agree and disagree. I see where you would like STD the best due to its raw production but well preformed album. State of Euphoria and Persistence of Time are awesome albums. State's best track isn't Anti-social (i dont care what anyone says) Be All, End All, great song. Who Cares Wins?!?! fuckin awesome. And Persistence, (my favorite Anthrax album) is excellent. They tried a few new things and I think it worked well (same thing Got the Time isn't thebest song on the record.) Keep It In The Family is heavy as fuck and In My World is a great track as well, and I have always enjoyed Intro To Reality, probably becauase I'm a pothead haha. Really, in the end, If Belladonna, Ian, Benante, Spitz, and Bello are playin on the record together, its fuckin awesome.

I agree, except my favorite on State of Euphoria is Make Me Laugh. I actually like that album, but it is definitely a step down.

Persistence of Time is an album I can't even tolerate listening to, and the cover song is also the only one I have any sort of enjoyment towards. It's beyond me how someone can like that album, but good for them I guess.

As far as I know this release has been postponed after the departure of Dan Nielson and I can't find confirmation of the release on anthrax.com or elsewhere.

I slightly prefer John Bush though - he has a very cool voice.

They'd wish. Kyuss meets Thin Lizzy? Well, impossible for this so-called supergroup. Anthrax haven't written a decent song since Among The Living and one or two on Sound Of White Noise. And I'm not even statring about the other two bands.
Josh Homme, John Garcia, Scott Reager and the ghost of Phil Lynnott are probably hunting down Scott Ian for his blasphemous statement.

Yep, I think Anthrax have lost all their credibility in recent years. Ever since they got rid of Joey again, the band has just been a farce. Which is sad to see, because at their best, they're one of my fave bands...

they really have, and i was a big fan of theirs - at least in the 80's through "White Noise"... the constant personnel changes (joey, out, spitz out, bush out, even bello was out at some point) coupled with the two comps of their best stuff, another re-recording of their best stuff with Bush singing comp, and a live album vs. only one new release in the past decade, exacerbated by VH1 appearances (Damnocracy), the project above, etc have really soured me on them.

i'm not even sure why i posted what i did in the prior post about getting the new album done and out, because i'm not going to buy it anyways.

I like everything with John Bush on vocals, not a fan of Joey, only on Got The Time

That's pretty much my position as well. Spreading The Disease is a monumental classic of the genre. Fistful of Metal is too often overlooked. Among The Living, again classic. I liked the pseudo-title-song off State of Euphoria, which I thought was the best track on a decent but unmemorable album.

I like the sound of instrument in this band more than the vocals, favorite album "Among The Living"

Ild say Fist Full of Metal and Spreading The Disease are there best followed by State Of Euphoria then just down hill. Fist Full is a classic, most aggressive thing they ever made. Among the living is to calm and placid.
sadly enough the "big 4" have all hit the ground.

I finally watched Anthrax's performance on the Big Four DVD, and holy crap, I was blown away. I said previously that Slayer was the best-sounding band among the other three, but I think overall Anthrax put up the best show hands down. Great performance from all the dudes. I had no idea Rob Caggiano was such an amazing guitar player. He is the Petrucci of Thrash Metal. Scott Ian and Frank Bello do great back-up singing, and they totally crazy on stage together with Joey Belladonna.

Anyways, gonna listen to Spreading the Disease soon. It has Madhouse, the riffing on which is mind-blowing.

80's Anthrax is my second favorite of the Big 4, behind only Megadeth. Their John Bush material though... Second only to Reload as the worst of the big 4 in the 90's, although they did manage to beat Destruction over in Germany, who released the horrendous Least Successful Human Cannonball. But Among the Living more then makes up for any wrongdoings in the 90's, it just sums up thrash fucking metal like few albums do
