Seeing as 10,000 Days was just released (and I'm a new tool fan, myself) it would be interesting to see what people think. Myself? I think it's a masterpiece. I don't think any of their albums are weak anywhere and this one carries on an already impressive discography. But otherwise, the band itself? Interesting music, unique, and the music videos are fascinating.

I think I like Maynard. Am I now a fag too?

Finally the announcement for the next album, but why does it have to take so damn long...

depends, if you like his music... chances are.. you "might or might not" be a fag, but if u like his looks or personality, then you're surely a fag
no offense, i'm just making things clear to void confusion

Bought Aenima and Lateralus yesterday. Believe it or not I've never given any of Tool's material a spin until now whilst listening to Aenima. I have to say, this stuff is awesome so far. I hear Lateralus is even more the masterpiece.

That's correct.

Lateralus is their best so far, I like 10,000 Days less (although that's also very good).
Especially the last few tracks on Lateralus are amazing!
'Lateralus', 'Disposition' and 'Reflection' are songs that won't ever start to get boring.

Glad you appreciate it so far!

Those two albums have some of the best Tool songs, especially my favorite Third Eye. Lateralus may seem very boring at first but it is rewarding after a few spins. It is a masterpiece for me in every sense: songwriting, performance, originality, production, even the artwork is phenomenal. I was really drawn to the rhythmic quality in their music, they remind me of later King Crimson at times.

Okay, Id like if all Tool fans can answer this with ohnestly, without lying. Did 10.000 Days, in your opinion, live up to the expectations, after an album like Lateralus? And how would you compare the two?

I did like the fact that they merged the feelings of lateralus and Aenima, but there weren't enough actual songs on the album, and while aenima's use of the random "song's" worked, i felt it just didn't work for 10,000 days.
The song's were brilliant, but they were far too little of them.

Yeah I know what you mean. The problem for me was, that I felt like they lost that special sound, that is Tool. When I listen to Aenima and Lateralus, I always feel like they are 100 times better than 10.000 Days, and I have had a hard time figuring out, why I feel this way with that album. I think its because, it drags too much.. Especially the Wings For Marie parts are so slow and boring, that I quickly lose interest in the songs.. I hate to say it, but I cant stand 10.000 Days, exept for some of the songs (Jambi, Rosetta Stoned etc.). I think another thing is the lyrics.. Some of the lyrics are so childish, that I cannot stand it. However I hope the new album, will be good, I really do, cause they have somthing, no other band has.

I love Tool, but I do enjoy Undertow more than I enjoy the two most recent albums that everyone seems to worship (Lateralus and 10,000 Days). The darker lyrics and the rawer, more brooding sound found in Undertow appeal more extensively to me than the progressive, atmospheric elements that Tool has recently incorporated into their music. Don't understand me in the wrong manner; I really like all of Tool's albums, but Undertow just has a darker style that appeals to me.

I don't worship their two most recent albums and I wouldn't say that everyone worships them...even though Lateralus had Schism, Parabola and the title track...I miss the days of songs like Prison Sex, Sober, Hooker With A Penis, Stinkfist...the atmospheric elements of the recent Tool album bore the crap out of me...

I very much like Hooker with a Penis. I used to like it as the best Tool song in days I was listening them regularly...
There was two other great songs there in Aenima, Jimmy and 46 & 2. There are great, and beside Hooker with a Penis and Aenima are the best tracks in that fabulous album.
In Lateralus one track always turn my brain to shit, that's the instrumental track, Triad... That song's just marvelous.

I saw these guys on Monday night up in Brisbane. They really are seasoned performers who put on an excellent show. Both the audio and visuals were first class.

My only gripe, they didn't play Eulogy.

Ive seen many shows and Tool live just dosnt compare to any. This is mainly based on the stage show so regardless of the setlist which isnt always the best the experience is what I love. If you are into them at all you should not miss it. "Lateralus' live is my personal favorite of all time, I just get chills and filled with so much emotion and positive feelings by the time its over. Ive seen the lighter thing for other bands but the lighter show AFTER the song is over is just crazy. Its like nothing Ive seen before.

I think in a way, Tool's silence is a good thing. It means there is nothing to prejudge it, so you can go in and love the music for the music. Look at Opeth for example. They said they weren't growling on their new album, half their listeners said "fuck it, It's shit," without even listening. Imagine if Tool said: "Yeah, we're doing an acoustic album." How many people would just shun the album? Thats just an example.

Yes the silence is a good thing, but not for the reason you say. When opeth said there are going to be no growling, i think some people didn't like the idea, but they are still going to check it out.. no doubt. And second.. if Tool said they where going to make a acoustic album, Tool fans would know they where in for a special treat:)
The silence is good because the band creates a mysticism about them that is good for them. and they can do it because they always deliver, and do not have to pre-sell their records trough the media..

Never been disappointed by a Tool album, some atmospheric elements maybe bore a little here and there but overall all the albums are really good. Lateralus and Aenimas are both brilliant albums.

I avoided Tool for a long time until last year because I assumed they were just another nu metal band. Shame on me for even lumping them in with that genre. I decided to give them a chance due to their connection with the late, great Bill Hicks. I only have Undertow and Aenima but I like them quite a bit. Especially the latter for the darkness it brings. "Third Eye" is a monster of a song.
