The sky turned black for many when Windir tragically came to an end 22 years ago, but the time for mourning has long passed and Vreid continue to carry that flame. They've stepped up to the mark before, but can they do it again?

This is not Windir and wont be Windir, but its always interesting to listen to this band, each album is different even keeping small bm formula, but still different. Not album what people will remember but it will stay on a catalog forever.

RaduP mentioned in his last review of Fossilization that in the early 2020s everyone sounded like cavernous music. Well, without a doubt, the current trend is to sound like traditional heavy/hard rock (old school is the new school).
That's what Vreid does, compensating for their limited vocals with heavy metal riffs, combining them with his classic black metal sound, and presenting several hooks to grab your attention. There are symphonic and synthesizer elements that embellish the sound, and at times you're reminded of Enslaved's greatest hits.

Listening to the song Loving the Dead made me seriously go back through every Vreid track that had ever made its way into my huge death/black playlist and delete this band the fuck out of it. This is just not okay, seriously.

What's with the hate? It was a cute little song And doesn't detract from their other songs? You know many extreme metal musicians love softer music as well, so I'm sure they want to create something different every now and then.

I think it's the highlight on this album, Agnete Kjølsruds vocals are great and creepy as hell 😅 It's definitely not a black/death metal song though, but so arent the other songs on the album in my ears..

I always love hearing Agnete Kjølsrud wherever she shows up because she has such a strong voice. It was really weird seeing Chris Pontius in the video for that song too.
