Wow, that was unexpected. I wonder what happened. I saw them live couple years ago and they were great

The comment made on the FB by the first Riverside's keyboard player is pure gold.

Not something I thought would happen. Then again, seems like it was not him in the driver's seat. Written by Chidder on 23.04.2026 at 17:19 Care to share the gist of it? I.

Written by Chidder on 23.04.2026 at 18:22 I don't know what happened with Jacek and I don't think it matters. I think it's very pitiful and immature to have these hard feelings pent up for 25 years. And to push them on publically like that? Pathetic, nothing more to it than that.

I've seen them twice and both shows were fantastic, this is very sad. They're one of my favorite bands and have always had stellar albums, this really sucks.

Surreal news. Amazing band, amazing discography aswell. Saw them live twice in Lisbon in the last few years and they had a fantastic chemistry on stage. These news are really surprising, to say the least. Im sorry to say this, but this band without the enormous talent of Mariusz Duda will never be the same anymore.

Horrible news, one of my favourite bands and a band from my country. However, sounds like there was a lot of built-up turmoil that finally burst...just surprised it came from this band that seemed intelligent and mature and not one that has bipolar people like a black, nu, or death metal.

Polish Steven Wilson leaving Polish Porcupine Tree... ...does not make sense. As the songwriter and frontman, surely he should have just shut the band down. Imagine of Mikael Åkerfeldt leaving Opeth in the hands of the rest of the guys

On the one hand, there are still members from the debut album left in the line-up, so there's grounds for them to carry on without Duda; on the flip side, it's hard to envisage a Riverside without either Duda or [edit:] Grudziński offering music worth continuing on that legacy. If this is the end of Riverside, or if they do turn into a hollow shell of their former selves, it's been a lot of great music from them up to this point to be thankful for.

Written by Zmckz on 24.04.2026 at 18:45 He's not a founding member and he most likely has no rights to the name. Riverside was founded by Grudzinski and Kozieradzki. So it's most likely Kozieradzki who holds the rights. Riverside easily ranks among my favourite bands. I've seen them live 4 times, and every time was more amazing than the previous one. At every gig they played Left Out, my favourite song of theirs. In 2018 they played the whole "Wasteland" (not in order though) - that's their best album, so it should be no surprise that I was utterly enchanted and amazed https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/riverside/2018/centrum-koncertowe-a2-wrocaw-poland-1b969d58.html. They managed to sound perfect every time too. I rank their gigs among the best-sounding gigs I've ever seen (and I've seen hundreds). The band's apparent demise leaves a huge hole in my love for music. I can't see anyone being able to fill that void.

It's very sad to get these news from Riverside, one of my favourite bands ever. Luckily, I managed to see them live several times with Piotr and the golden line-up. It still feels a bit weird though. I wonder what happened and if maybe it never worked out after he died.

This is what Marcin Meller said: Since the beginning of January 2026, Mariusz had been suggesting in email correspondence to all team members that, in light of the situation, a joint statement should be written and published on the team’s social media. In February, he even proposed the content of such a message—incidentally, it was milder in tone and more diplomatic in form. In short: “about suspending the band’s activity until further notice.” Once again, he sent it to all team members. I know this because I have those messages. There was no unanimous agreement among all parties involved to publish it. My time with the band Riverside has also come to an end, and I want one key reason to be clearly stated—I do not see a possibility of continuing without its leader and such an important person as Mariusz. I was on the inside, I know what it’s like, and this is the decision I am making—my own, personal one. I have the right to it. Michał Łapaj: As you can imagine, this is a difficult and delicate matter […] I haven’t fully processed all of this yet, as Thursday’s statement also came as a surprise to me.
