Not a fan of the guitar wank but the songs are moderately enjoyable with good background music vibes like most of their recent output. Englund isn't one of my favourite vocalists, but I always enjoy him - sounds mildly similar Nils Molin and Tommy Karevik, who are two of my favourites.

Ugly cover art though, same case with the last one which is odd because everything from 2016-2022 was quite nice.

Great release, and very melody-rich. I think Escape Of The Phoenix is their peak, but this is definitely better than the last one

They have done it better in the past, but nonetheless, with Englund in the front lines we won't have any probable failure. Really entertaining listening.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I think Tom's vocals are more alike Russell Allen for myself.

Yeah forgot to mention him. I was thinking more in terms of their vocal habits and ornamentation more than the sound of the voice, if that makes sense. For example, I could see Nils sing these songs pretty much perfectly bar-for-bar (runs and all), however it'd be clearly a differing voice.

There are some good songs here, but there are more bad ones, which makes the album lack cohesion; it even feels like there are distinct subgenres (like commercial soft rock). My favorites are the guitar-driven tracks with interesting riffs and song structures.
There's a dark or gothic aura over the whole thing that makes it interesting, and it's reflected in the keyboards.

Same feeling of the previous record. Good, but nothing spectacular, far from that. Maybe this record is slightly better than the previous one, ill give em that. "The Shadow Self", "Leaving The Emptiness" and "the Prophecy" are the best tracks for me.

This is a very personal opinion, but I feel they're not progressing in the right direction. Their last album that I truly enjoyed was the one from 2022, and before that, they had hit after hit since 2014. This album has some good songs, but I really sense a significant creative difference, and not for the better.

I feel something similar at your thoughts. Hopefully they will be able to address this ship to a better composing port.
