But who is Cadaveria? Well, Cadaveria is the former singer from Opera IX, and she released 2 albums with that outfit, "Sacro Culto" and "The Black Opera", two great Black Metal albums if you ask me. Reason enough to give this one a chance.
So, first things first, what is Horror Metal? Well, is very easy to explain, take some Death Metal, Black Metal, Gothic Metal, and Traditional Heavy Metal, mix it all together, blend it well, and serve with some symphonic elements. There you have it, Horror Metal.
The album starts with a beautiful choir intro, and being a classical music listener, I recognized it, a excerpt of "La Traviata" of Giuseppe Verdi, cool intro which blends perfectly with the first chords of "Spell" a marvelous song, full of tempo changes and voice variations, I mean, this lady can growl, grunt, scream, shout can do with her voice whatever she wants!
The guitar work is also remarkable, the riffing goes from straight Death Metal to 80's Classic Heavy Metal. The album has great songs, like "Declaration Of Spiritual Independence" and "The Magic Rebirth", they all are a mix of Classic Heavy Metal and other extreme forms of the genre, truly nice combo!
So, do yourself a favor and pick up this album quickly, so you can peak into the distorted world of Cadaveria and her Horror Metal.

Is different a synonym of good, or bad? I guess for purists, it will be a synonym of bad. I'm (almost) never a purist or whatever word fits better for what I'm about to say: Cadaveria is different to Opera IX and fans of Cadaveria's former band might think this new project is not at the level or that she "sold out" or whatever. I'll write this review without making comparisons because I believe one of the reasons of starting a new project is probably to experiment something new (I know sometimes it does not apply), and to separate from certain style. wonderful cover art.. black metal girls sure looks great.. the make up fits better.  the best cover art to the best cadaveria album, its not a good album indeed, but has a larger number of good songs than the other two albums. Best tracks: Absolute Vaccum, Black Glory and The Magic Rebirth (after all.. just listen to the end of album)

By the way, she did 3 albums with Opera IX. You forgot Call Of The Wood.
