I have the chance to listen to a lot of different CDs every months but I can tell you that it's not easy to find non-formatted bands and stuff with balls, real energy and anger. Saviours is one of the few bands who manages to propose something old-school with the same spirit that we could find during the 80's but without sounding redundant. Accelerated Living is a nice mix of old school Thrash Metal with some big Heavy Metal influences and a certain Rock N Roll spirit which can be assimilated to Stoner. Even if the voice of Austin Barber is really linear and monotonous, I like the fact that it's powerful and clearly gives energy and violence to the music. It's not really easy to describe Accelerated Living but you could maybe imagine a Rock N Roll Metallica (80's period) or a Thrash (and not Death) Entombed to get it. In the end this music is just really cool and I like this release because even if it's old school, this is actually refreshing. Some few bands play this kind of music nowadays, Accelerated Living is just a perfect way to regenerate yourself!
The production is not the strong point of the album. The fact is that Saviours chose to record this album like in the 80's, without any overproduction, without any effect and other new kind of electronic system. That's cool on a way but the sound is a bit weak too and if you use to listen to modern recording, it could be weird at first (but not really problematic too with time). The cover artwork is old school too, and looks amateurish on a side but this is good (one more time) to come back to the 80's where those kinds of covers were legions.
Accelerated Living is without any doubt a really nice surprise. It's been a while that I didn't had the chance to listen to an album which reminds me the good old past time but with a real personality however. If you're into Stoner, Heavy Metal and of course Thrash (because the riffs are definitely thrashy and violent) Accelerated Living is a must. Don't wait any more time to discover this band!
