"Revolution Rising" is the debut album of Civilization One, a really nice and promising combo when you just have a look on its line up. Actually the band is composed of musicians from Italy (Aldo Lonobile and Luca Cartasegna from Secret Sphere), from Brazil (Jesper Stotz), from France (Pierre-Emmanuel Pélisson ex Heavenly) and finally from Sri Lanka with the famous singer Chitral Somopala. The band plays a really cool melodic Heavy/Power Metal and for sure we're in front of a good release.
With such a good line up, it was quite impossible to do something bad and Civilization One didn't fall into a malicious trap. "Revolution Rising" is a nice album of Melodic Heavy/Power Metal which even flirts with Neo-Classical and Symphonic music. It's a bit basic technically speaking and it's not so surprising but it's well done and the performance of the musicians is extremely convincing, so really if you're looking for a good album of Power without a lot of pretensions which is in the end really good, I think that you should have a look on this "Revolution Rising".
The ten songs sound modern and the really nice production of the release gives a lot of power to these different compositions. Plus I will say it one more time, Chitral Somopala is a magisterial singer and nobody can blame the performance of the four other musicians which is simply perfect. All in all, "Revolution Rising" is a nice little album and if the guys find the way to continue their musical journey I'm sure that they will be able to find a lot of fans in the future. Without being the album of the year, "Revolution Rising" is a nice surprise and I can tell you that this release is synonym of quality.
Except that this release is a bit basic and not really revolutionary, the debut album of Civilization One is a success. Not really in the vein of the classic European Power Metal bands, and above all super catchy, I can tell you that it's highly recommended if you need your dose of Power during the summer. Let's hope that Civilization One will confirm my good feelings in a near future.
