Excellent album, why there's no review? It surely deserves one.

One of the things that I love about this album that it covers a lot of ground in comparison to other thrash metal bands. It's not restricted to the genres expectations and tiresome-cliches, therefore sounding fresh and somewhat innovative.

Nice album. It shows the maturity and progression of the band's sound from their first two albums but also does the job just right. The acoustic-led 'Veil of deception' and 'A room with a view' are really well written, and 'Seemingly endless time' is an awesome opener.

This is not Bay Area Thrash metal, this's Progressive Thrash metal !
I overlooked this album at my very young age, I think it takes some listening experience to appreciate it.

GREAT metal, not gonna say it's thrash like many people do, maybe it's 50% thrash 50% something else. I'm sure this is how "Frolic" was supposed to sound like, but something went wrong there.

Yes, it's a mix of many things..., cross over thrash (anthrax, but better than anthrax), progressive riffs, a little bit of punk elements, etc. I didn't like it many years ago but fucking love it now. Their Best album by far !

This is not Bay Area Thrash metal, this's Progressive Thrash metal !

It doesn't look progressive thrash record from anywhere. A very different material DA came upon and delivered fantastically bringing lot of things on table. Funk, Anthrax's-line of vocals, RHCP's bass slaps and complexion of a record been worshiping to 90's era.

To this day, i love this CD as it gives you every possible element of joy to be found in 90's thrash scene.

True, it's everything. However, I've no choice but to name it a progressive thrash metal album unless you've a better suggestion.
(The progressive riffs in here are shorter than usual progressive metal albums and I can hear a lot of influence from DT's style...)

How do you know that? The average rating doesnt necessarily tell you.
When I saw people discussing Death Angel discography on MS I most often read that people like Act III most.
That is what I was referring to. It is of course not an objective observation.
That said, dont take my words too literally in this case.
I wanted to say it in TeachnThrash's words and express which one is my favourite of their albums, that's all.

Right, then:

I'm going to not go against popular opinion on this one and say that I preferred Act III, but also preferred The Ultra-Violence and The Art of Dying to Frolic.

It's hard to say when all of them sound kind of different musically, it's not clear comparison of just 100% thrash albums.

This is practically an Alternative Metal album, A Room with a View could be off an Alice in Chains EP. It's a good album just not the one I was hoping for.

Alternative metal? I disagree or better said I don't see how...
A Room with a View does not sound like AIC. Also AIC was a small band in 1990, an opening act. I don't see how AIC could be an influence on Death Angel.

Oh I wasn't accusing them of ripping them off, they couldn't possibly have. It just makes me think of stuff off Jar of Flies etc. while some of the bass lines remind me of funkier bands like FNM or RatM and certain riffs of Soundgarden, not stuff I expect from a Bay Area Thrash band (at least not pre-Nevermind), but idk maybe it's just me.

Faith No More I can agree, RATM didn't exist in 1990, Soundgarden were beginners, just like AIC. I can think of Mordred, even Suicidal Tendencies.

Act III is one of my favorite albums, I think it was quite unique when it came out.

Indeed, "ahead of its time" is perhaps how I should have put it.

Classic. Been a fan of the band since before this album was written. I don’t think Act III left my CD disc changer (ha) for like a year after it was released. They upleveled heavily with this masterpiece.
