Dunno, I can't post an album on my list that isn't in the MS datebase...I would feel pretentious...

You don't like Disillusion? That is a really, really good album man! Terrific prog! As for Killswitch, that album is a dirty little pleasure. I try to stay away from bands that are the most mainstream, shoved down our throats, heard same song 5 times a day on the local rock radio station. That album (specifically "My Curse") was waaaay over-played but it's sooo good.

+1 b.u.m. equipment!!!
Good list by the way dude. Interesting Maiden pick because that one is a real gem and gets overlooked by a lot of people.

Thanks! I had to do a massive google image search to find the pic, lol. Yea, Somewhere in Time doesn't quite get the love from Maiden fans. Also, my favorite two tracks on the album are ones that don't get "noticed" as strong songs either: Sea Of Madness and Heaven Can Wait.

I think Sea of Madness is a very strong track as well! Usually people focus on Wasted Years but I would say Sea of Madness, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, and Alexander the great are the best songs. Not that Wasted Years is weak.

Thumbs up for Arktika! At Zero is awesome As well as Todtgelichter!
And I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who thinks that Somewhere In Time is the best Iron Maiden album.

Great list. Going to create one of my own soon I think. I'm happy that someone else also absolutely loves the atmo/sludge/doom movement so popular nowadays. Surprised at Katatonia though. I'd choose "The Great Cold Distance" if I had to put in Katatonia.

Thanks! The bottom 5 or so seem to fluctuate. I have waaaay too many albums (over 1,000) so my feelings change from time to time. I love NITND. The song structures and production are top-notch.

Surprised to see Circus Maximus - Isolate here honestly since they seem to try hard to be dream theater. You could have the Dream Theater instead of them easily.
Good job with Godflesh and porcupine tree. Glad that I am not the ovly one who thinks fear of blank planet is their best

Second half of the album might be better than the first...incredulously.

Don't you think Parallels gets a little tiresome towards the end?

Nope. Two of the best songs on the album are near the end. "We Only Say Goodbye" and "Don't Follow Me". Both were met with critical acclaim; I actually heard them on the local radio station at the time of release. And the ender is a beautiful closing song. Marked new territory for FW - slow and emotional, much like a ballad...progressive metal style.
